We liked the previous version of Keychron’s 75% K2 keyboard so much that we put it on our page about the best wireless keyboards as our pick for the best productivity clacker. Now the company is back with the Keychron K3, which has the same black-and-white design (except for the orange escape key) and small size. However, this time Keychron has made the keyboard much thinner by using low-profile switches that make it less than 1 inch thick.
And if you like different kinds of switches, the Keychron K3 gives you a lot of options. The company will sell three red, blue, and brown low-profile mechanical switches made by Gateron, as well as six optical switches made by Keychron (white, red, black, brown, blue and orange). And if you can’t decide or just like to change things up, you can swap out the switches to change how the keyboard feels without having to buy a whole new device.

K3 review: Design

As you can see in the picture above, the Keychron K3 (on the bottom) looks a lot like the K2 (top). Both keyboards have a 75% layout that keeps most of the keys where you’d expect them to be and gives you a dedicated function row.
That’s different from 60% models like the Cooler Master SK621, which doubles the number and function rows and gets rid of the home and end keys that are dedicated to page up and down. People will use and limit the layout in different ways, but we think this 75% size and Keychron’s layout is the best balance between small size and comfort/familiarity. You can get this keyboard from its official website.
Keychron K3 review: Performance
where you are able to store information till it is required of you. The wonderful typing experience is a direct result of the high-quality switches and substantial PBT keycaps. Keychron went above and beyond by greasing the stabilisers in order to make certain that the larger keys do not make an excessive amount of rattling noise.
We also have to compliment the fact that this keyboard incorporates compatibility for VIA. It appears to be the only board of its kind that can be purchased at this price, at least to the best of my knowledge. Also, it is a wonderful tool for fully personalizing the item.
Keychron K3 review: RGB Lighting

With any option, you can’t change the backlighting after you buy it. You have to choose between a white backlight or what Keychron calls an RGB backlight. This is a backlight with many different colours. Among other things, you can set it to flash different colours as you type.
You can also make the keys always show the same colour or have patterns move across them. Backlighting isn’t very helpful if you touch type, but even if you do, it’s oddly relaxing to see these colours move across the keys. You can turn off the backlight if you don’t like it, or you can buy the White Backlight version instead.
Keychron K3 review: Battery life
The wired connection is a bit more reliable, and gamers prefer it because there is less delay when they press a button. The Bluetooth connection is very useful because you can connect up to three devices and easily switch between them.
This is the best way to connect your phone, tablet, and computer. It’s very simple to set up. With RGB turned on, the keyboard’s battery life is about 34 hours, which is enough to get you through a few days of work before you need to charge it. The real information about the battery is that it has 1550 mAH.
Final Words
We wanted it to look like the Keychron K1, but to be smaller and have different switches. We got a keyboard that feels cheap and is easy to break instead. On paper, the new Keychron switches look great, but in real life, they are hard to use and don’t feel good.
The K3 is not a bad choice if you want a keyboard that is a mix between an Apple keyboard and a mechanical one. The feel of the switches is slightly better than that of an Apple keyboard. But when compared to mechanical, it feels mushy and rattly.
