- Go to “Security & Privacy” option and then to “Firewall” tab.
- Click on the lock button showing “Click the lock to make changes.”
- Enter your administrator password and click on the “Unlock” button.
- Now click on the “Turn Off Firewall” button to disable the firewall.
Clear Browsing History
If you’ve been using the Internet a lot for years, you might have a lot of cache, history, and cookie files. When Chrome’s cache builds up, it can cause problems and slow down the way Chrome works as a whole. Use these steps to clear your cache.
- Open Chrome and press “Control + Shift + Delete” buttons in Windows and “Command + Shift + Delete” buttons in Mac.
- A new page with ‘chrome://settings/clearBrowserData’ in the address bar will open with a dialog box opened.
- Check the options ‘Cached images and files’, ’Cookies and other site data’, ‘Browsing history’ and ‘Download history’
- For the Time Range dropdown menu, choose All Time.
- Click on the blue Clear Data button.
Disable Experimental QUIC Protocol in Chrome
If you see the ERR QUIC PROTOCOL ERROR message, you might not be able to get to some websites. The best thing to do is turn off the experimental QUIC protocol. Open the Chrome web browser, type “chrome:/flags/” in the address bar, and press “Enter.” A page with the message WARNING: EXPERIMENTAL FEATURES AHEAD will be shown.
Use the search field and type “Experimental QUIC protocol” into it. You can find the entry for Experimental QUIC protocol and set the option to “Disabled.” Start the web browser over and make sure the problem is gone. Most of the time, turning off the protocol could fix the problem.
Disable Chrome Extensions
Extensions are very useful, and they let you add new features that Google didn’t have at first. But some extensions aren’t well made, and others could add bugs that make it hard for you to browse. It can be hard and take some time to find Chrome extensions that cause problems. Do these things:
- Open Chrome web browser and go to the URL “chrome://extensions/”.
- You will see all installed extensions. Each extension has an option enable or disable.
- If you think that an extension may cause the problem, switch off the extension.
- Restart Chrome and verify that the problem has been resolved
Reset Chrome
If none of the steps, like turning off the QUIC protocol and clearing the cache, work, nothing will. Then you need to choose a step that is a bit more extreme. If you try to reset the browser, you might be able to fix the problem. Do these things:
- Click on the three vertical dots icon located at the top right corner of your browser.
- Click on Settings. On the new page, scroll down until you find “Advanced”. Click on it to expand advanced options.
- Scroll down again and you should find ‘Reset’ at the bottom of the page. A pop up will warn you that all extension and temporary data will be removed.
