Portable solid-state drives (SSDs) like the Corsair EX100U are a terrific place to save all your photos, videos, and other things and free up space on your laptop. (so it runs faster). They let you quickly transport large data to and from storage and are getting smaller, lighter, and easier to carry. And thus far.
This Corsair drive is the smallest we’ve seen. This little gadget is roughly half the size of a credit card and doesn’t weigh much, yet it can hold up to 4TB of information. That sounded really good, so we were excited to get my hands on one and see how it works and how it compares to the finest external hard drives.

Corsair EX100U review: Design

The Corsair EX100U is a compact, flat rectangle constructed of aluminum alloy with a frosted finish. On the top, there is a Corsair emblem, and on the rear, there is a sticker with information. The word “EX100U” is written on the side, which is helpful if you have a lot of gear at home and can’t remember what anything is.
At one end, there is a small handle that might be attached to a key ring or anything similar. At the other end, there is a cover that you have to take off to get to the USB-C port. It doesn’t come off all the way, which is excellent because it would be easy to lose otherwise. When you aren’t using the drive, you can put the cap back on to keep dust and other nasty things from getting in. You can buy this corsair EX100u from its official website
Corsair EX100U review: Features
The Corsair EX100U is different from other external hard drives and SSDs in that it doesn’t have any functions. For example, there are no security measures, which seems like a squandered chance given how easy it is to lose. There is also no backup software on board. If you care about these things, you can always download third-party applications. But it would have been good if some of these were already done.
Corsair EX100U review: Performance

Even though my test equipment includes a USB 3.2 Gen 22 connector, most systems don’t have this version of USB, which is necessary to get the most out of the EX100U. So, the speeds listed here are much faster than what customers would get with USB 3.2 Gen 2, which has a limit of roughly 1,000MB/s for both reading and writing.
Corsair EX100U review: Price and availability
As we’ve come to expect from Corsair, the EX100U isn’t the cheapest external SSD on the market, but it’s priced well for what it can do and how much space it has. The MSRPs for the 1TB, 2TB, and 4TB in the US are $90.99, $184.99, and $464.99, respectively. In the UK, these prices are £99.99, £199.99, and £489.99. In Europe, they are €109.99, €219.99, and €549.99.
Final Words
With its USB 3.2 Gen2 x2 interface, the Corsair EX100U is made for high-compatibility USB devices that still need speeds of over 1GB/s. In the past, manufacturers had to use the Thunderbolt interface to obtain speeds of 1GB/s and more, which made it hard for numerous smaller devices to work together. At the time of this writing, the 1TB version costs $108 (USD) on Amazon, the 2TB version costs $190 (USD), and the 4TB version costs $484 (USD), which makes these drives quite competitively priced.
