Although the company is best known for its smartphones, laptops, and tablets, it also produces a limited selection of displays. Huawei offers a variety of curved and flat screens under the MateView brand name. These displays are meant for home and business clients, and Huawei offers a few different designs, including the MateView SE that is being evaluated here.
The MateView series’ mission is to provide panels that are accessible to a wider audience by lowering the price of more advanced capabilities that, not so long ago, would have designated them as premium goods. The MateView SE is a 23.8-inch monitor that can be purchased with either a basic stand or, as is the case with the model that we are reviewing here, a stand that has adjustments for both height and rotation.

Huawei MateView SE review: Design and Features

A lot of cheap screens look old and boring, but not the Huawei MateView SE. The display sits on a small, sleek metal base and is attached to a sleek, circular stand. When you look at the display, you’ll notice that the bezels are surprisingly thin. This makes it look good and makes sure that it can work well in a multi-monitor setting. The Dell P2319H’s good looks make up for its bulky base, and the MateView SE is well-made all over.
The back of the plastic is a little loose, but that’s not a big deal. This monitor is easily strong enough for home or office use. The Huawei only weighs 4.5kg, so it’s a bit lighter than the Dell. It’s also easy to put together, since the stand snaps into the back of the screen and the base doesn’t need any tools. You can buy this monitor from its official webiste
Huawei MateView SE review: Display Quality
The MateView SE is controlled by a simple and responsive screen, and the settings are moved through with a joystick below the screen. A word of caution: Huawei wraps the joystick in a piece of foam to protect it while it’s being shipped. It is hard to take off, but it should come off once the panel is in place. After that, the joystick will be much easier to use.
Huawei MateView SE review: Image quality

Huawei doesn’t list a response time for this screen in its specs, but I guessed it was around 5ms. Not great, but not bad, either. There are ways to lower this number in the OSD Menu, but it will lower the quality of the image. You can choose, but this isn’t the kind of panel that a serious player would pick.
Huawei MateView SE review: Price and availability
In the UK, the review model with the adjustable support costs £179.99, while the regular model with a simpler support costs just £139.99. Since the monitor is the same, the adjustable stand costs an extra £40, though it is often on sale. Huawei, Amazon, Argos, and Currys all sell it. Online stores in Europe sell the standard version for €169.99. At the moment, Huawei doesn’t sell its TVs in the United States, so the only way to get one is to import it.
Final Words
The Huawei MateView SE Standard Edition monitor is very simple and has a simple stand that can’t be adjusted in height. In general, this Huawei monitor should be thought of as versatile. For example, it can be used for certain office tasks, working with graphics, and watching movies, but not for work that needs keeping a lot of information on the screen at once. If a frame rate of 75 Hz is enough, you can play games on this monitor.
