How to forward text messages using iPhone
First, there’s the normal way to send a text message to someone else on an iPhone or iPad. It’s not too hard if you know what you’re doing, but it’s not very obvious how to use the feature on an iOS device for the first time. Here are the steps to forwarding text messages on an iPhone:
- In the messages app, press and hold the text message bubble you wish to forward.
- Select the “More…” option from the pop-up menu.
- You’ll see the selected message with a blue checkmark icon next to it. Here you have the option to select additional messages to forward.
- Then, select the arrow icon in the lower right-hand corner of your screen.
- Type the name of the contact you’d like to forward the message to and press the green “send” arrow to complete the forwarding process.
- To exit the text message forwarding selection screen, select the “Cancel” option in the top-right corner of the screen.
How to forward text messages on Android
- Tap and hold the message you’d like to forward.
- Press the three vertical dots icon that appears.
- Tap “Forward.”
- Select a contact to send the message to. Then, tap the send button to complete the message forwarding.

Text forwarding works similarly to call forwarding; all it’s doing is sending the message to a different number (or email address) than the one it was addressed to. As a business, this means you can be more responsive to your customers.
With the *#62# settings interrogation code, you can see if calls or texts are being forwarded to another number whenever you’re unreachable. If the “Voice Call Forwarding,” “Data Call Forwarding,” and “SMS Call Forwarding” all say they’re disabled, good. If numbers are listed, they could be put there by someone else.
After selecting the text you want to revise, you can type, or tap the selection to see editing options: Cut: Tap Cut or pinch closed with three fingers two times. Copy: Tap Copy or pinch closed with three fingers. Paste: Tap Paste or pinch open with three fingers.
