Remove iCloud Account Remotely: iCloud makes it easy to sync a lot of personal information, some of which is secret, like passwords. But if you lose, sell, or have your device stolen, you could end up putting your information at risk in both big and small ways.
Apple does protect your device’s data by requiring a passcode, password, or Touch ID/Face ID to access the hardware. This is usually enough of a barrier, especially when combined with the fact that Apple asks for a password or other form of verification when you try to buy something from one of its media or app stores.
How To Remove iCloud Account Remotely
- Go to iCloud.com and sign in. (If you’ve forgotten your password, you can get it reset on Apple’s main page.)
- Click the Find My app. It’ll be fairly easy to find, looking like a green-ish radar.
- Click All Devices.
- Select the device you need to remove. It should pop up on a list, hopefully not too populated with technical peripherals
- Select Remove from Account.
- Click Remove.
What Is iCloud?
Ever wonder what happens to your backups? They are kept in your iCloud account, which is a cloud service that Apple gives users to store their data, apps, and documents safely and privately.
When you set up a new iPhone or iPad, you’ll be asked to create an iCloud account or log in to one you already have. This will let you restore your data from a backup. iCloud is like a remote place to store everything you use on your iPhone, like pictures, videos, apps, files, music, and so on. iCloud can also help you find your iPhone if you’ve lost it.
Why is Removing iCloud Important?
iPhones are linked to their owners’ password-protected iCloud accounts, and only the owner can remove the link. So, if you want to trade in your iPhone, sell it privately, or just give it to a family member, you need to remove your iCloud account from your iPhone first. By getting rid of your iCloud, you’ll keep your data safe and prevent people you don’t know from getting into it.
