This article will show you how to get Gloom Spear in Tears of the Kingdom. Link can use a lot of different weapons in The Legend of Zelda games, and Tears of the Kingdom is no different. There are different kinds of weapons, and spears are one of them. Spear blades can hit and attack enemies from farther away than most sword blades can. Depending on the spear, it can do a series of attacks faster than a sword, but it is a two-handed weapon, so Link can’t hold both the spear and his shield at the same time.
There are almost the same spears in Tears of the Kingdom as in Breath of the Wild, with a few new ones from the Zonai. All spears and other weapons can be made stronger by fusing them together, but there are some spears that are already strong. The Gloom Spear is one of the most unique weapons in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom because of how it looks and how it constantly drains Link’s health when he uses it in battle. But how do you get the completely black Katana? In The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, here’s how to get Gloom Spear in Tears of the Kingdom.

The director of Breath of the Wild, Hidemaro Fujibayashi, and the producer of Breath of the Wild, Eiji Aonuma, also worked on this game. At E3 2019, a sneak peek was shown, and the full reveal will happen at E3 2021. Tears of the Kingdom was supposed to come out in 2022, but it was pushed back to May 2023.

- Check around the northeast part of the Akkala Citadel Ruins. In our guide on how to get to the shrine in Akkala Citadel Ruins, we talked about this event.
- Broca Island is to the north. From Foothill Stable, take the trail that goes along the southern edge of Death Mountain and heads north. Keep going east on the path past where the entrance to Lake Intenoch Cave is. You’ll meet the Gloom Hands (see the map above for where they are).
- Look on Mekar Island. The Great Hyrule Forest is to the west, and the Thyphlo Ruins Skyview Tower is to the southwest. From Kikakin Shrine, don’t go straight south.

You’ll get to the spot shown on the map above. Drop westward over the cliff’s edge and hold on to the wall. You get into a cave that leads to the docks. Light a big torch in this area to find the Hylian Shield. Then, go down the nearby stairs until you reach the Gloom Hands.
Tears of the Kingdom Gameplay
Breath of the Wild (2017), the last Zelda game, is the same kind of action game as Tears of the Kingdom. As Link, players explore Hyrule and two new areas, the sky, which is full of floating islands, and the Depths, to find weapons, resources, and complete quests. Link can walk, climb, ride horses, and use paragliders to get around. The Zonai devices are new to Tears of the Kingdom. The player can use them to fight, move, explore, and do other things.

In place of the runes from the last game, there are now five new abilities: Ultrahand, Fuse, Ascend, Recall, and Autobuild. The player can pick up and move different objects with Ultrahand, and they can also connect different objects together. With the Zonai devices, this can be used to make different vehicles or other things. Link can use Fuse to combine materials, equipment, or objects from the world with a shield or weapon to make it stronger and last longer.
For example, if you attach something explosive to an arrow, the arrow will explode when it hits something. Autobuild lets you make a device you made with Ultrahand instantly again, using nearby devices and objects if they are available or making single-use replacements for missing parts for the cost of zonaite. With Ascend, the player can move up through solid walls. Recall can be used to “rewind” the movement of an object.
Questions and Answers
By a wide margin, the Gloom Spear is the strongest spear in Tears of the Kingdom. It’s a rare item that can only be found in places where Phantom Ganon shows up, and the player has to beat him to get it.
Before, the Fierce Deity Sword only showed up at the end of Majora’s Mask for Nintendo 64 as Fierce Deity Link’s weapon. But in the 2023 game, you can get it as part of its own set of armor through a side quest.
The Gloom Sword is one of the best one-handed weapons in the game, but you have to be careful with it because every time Link swings it, he gets sad. You can get this weapon as a drop from Phantom Ganon during the main story quest “Crisis at Hyrule Castle – The Floating Castle.”
The most important reason you shouldn’t use any of the Gloom weapons dropped by defeated enemies is that they take your health and leave you with broken hearts that can only be fixed by going to the surface, going to a Lightroot below in the Depths, or eating heart-restoring meals.
