Questions and Answers
Ambient Mode is a screensaver that comes with both Android TV and Google TV. Its goal is to keep images from staying still for long periods of time. This is important for display technologies that may be prone to screen burn, such as OLED. After 10 minutes of not being used, the OS will put the device into Ambient Mode.
Most of the time, an ambient display solution that turns on the screen only when there are notifications, stays on, and turns off when the notifications are dismissed will use the least amount of battery power while still getting the user’s attention when it’s needed. This is in contrast to an Always-on Display, which keeps the screen on all the time.
Ambient Mode uses a lighting effect to cast soft colors from the video into the background of your screen. This makes watching videos in the Dark theme feel more real.
If you have a Samsung TV or monitor that supports Ambient Mode, you can make your TV look nice even when you’re not watching it. Ambient Mode makes your space feel better by showing you decorations, the weather, art, popular pictures and stories based on your interests.
