Xiaomi has reaffirmed its commitment to industry breakthroughs and traced the cyclone on which smartphone innovation travels by becoming the first company to bring the much awaited Qualcomm Snapdragon Elite Gaming to its discerning consumers.
The strategic collaboration, which was announced today, further strengthens the relationship between the two technology leaders and paves the way for Xiaomi’s upcoming flagship devices to evening odd to high performance.
The next-gen Snapdragon Elite hardware, which is the suc cessor of the current Snapdragon 8 Elite bolstered by the Snapdragon X65 5G modem, will provide processing, graphics and power efficiencies, inheriting the legacy of previous models which powered the most premium smartphones in their times.
Insider sources in the industry are predicting as much as +25% performance in CPU workloads and even more, an outlandish 30% performance boost for the graphics units.
This leap in processing power will allow customers to do more and do it faster than ever before: for example, edit, back up and share their content, create, play and stream their 4K UHD videos, or create, play and stream their VR experiences.
Xiaomi announced that its next-generation flagship smartphones, believed to be the Xiaomi 16 series, will be the first to pack this high-end chip inside. This fast implementation is the result of the longstanding close relationship between Xiaomi and Qualcomm for more than 15 years.
The pair recently signed a new, multi-year agreement that will see the Chinese giant’s latest and greatest Snapdragon-power devices remain an exclusively before-Samsung status for the foreseeable future.
The imminent arrival of the Xiaomi 16 series in September has whetted the appetite of tech fans everywhere.
According to leaks, the devices will not just sport the new Snapdragon Elite chip but will bring a lot more to the table with more powerful cameras, possibly Leica powered, increased battery capacities over 6800mAh capacity and super-fast charging coupled with rugged design with high refresh rate displays.
Those, in case you’re wondering, will reportedly include the Xiaomi 16 Pro, and perhaps even the Xiaomi 16 Ultra, which may be limited to China to start with before getting a global launch.
Curiously, Xiaomi is also working on its own Xring chip that should make an appearance this year inside the Xiaomi 15S Pro and Pad 7 Ultra.
This hints at a two-fold strategy where Snapdragon mobile processors fuel international flagship and XR gonk chips are saved for other applications or China-first super tier devices.
With the introduction of the next-gen Snapdragon Elite class processor, Xiaomi is once again demonstrating its commitment in brining cutting-edge performance and innovation to users globally.
