When it comes to PopSockets, the classic PopGrip: Swappable Grip was by far our favorite. It was easy to use, looked good, and wasn’t too expensive, so most of our users liked it. During testing, we were surprised by how quickly this combination phone grip and stand changed how we used our phones, making them easier to hold and less likely to fall. We also noticed a big difference in how easy it was to text, take pictures, and keep corded earbuds from getting tangled with the PopGrip.
The PopGrip: Swappable Grip, which is basically the model for all other PopSockets, has a thin plastic base with an adhesive back and an accordion-style stem made of polycarbonate, TPU, and polyurethane that pops in and out when it grows. It’s very useful as a kickstand, which made it easier for us to watch movies on our phones. It’s also very addicting.

Even though PopSockets has a few choices for car mounts, we chose the Multi-Surface Mount as the best because it could be used in a lot of different ways and was the most reliable. Several Amazon users say it stays in place, even on hot dashboards and with heavy use, and one of our own testers has used the Multi-Surface Mount in their car for over a year without any problems.
The mount can be used on more than just cars. You can connect your phone to any vertical surface, such as a bathroom mirror, a tiled wall, or a kitchen cabinet, and use it without using your hands. This could be helpful for anyone trying to follow a recipe or a tutorial.

- Makes it easy and safe to mount the phone in the car. Offers different ways to mount.
- Offers a stable and adjustable angle of view
- Designed to work with most PopSockets PopGrips

PopSockets are some of the most famous and widely used phone grips on the market for a reason: they last a long time, help reduce the stress on your hands, and come in more styles than you can shake a phone case at. PopSockets are also surprisingly cheap. Even PopGrips made of high-quality materials and designed to look like Marvel superheroes or NFL teams cost less than a big pizza.
PopSockets’ trademarked accordion shape, which pops in and out in a pleasing way, is one of the things that makes them so fun to use. When I don’t want to miss a staff meeting or waste time while waiting for the ferry, I often pop my PopGrip in and out and roll it around between floors.
The Good
- Makes it easy to change how the phone looks. Gives you a good grip on the phone.
- Can be used as a phone stand.
- It’s easy to switch between different PopGrips because they can be switched out.
The Bad
- May not stick well to cases made of silicone or that are waterproof
- Some people may want a more permanent way to hold their phone.

Even though PopSockets are more common, popular, and come in a wider range of styles, I have to admit that the Spigen Style Ring 360 (which used to be called the Style Ring POP) will always be my favorite and will always be on my phone cases. The Style Ring 360 is more useful than PopSockets, which makes it a better grip for many people who can look past the cutesy patterns of PopSockets.
You only need one finger to use a ring grip, while you need at least two fingers to use a PopSocket. You can also flip the Style Ring 360 over and hang your phone from the back of your hand if you need both hands for something like a food tray or shopping bags. Call it a large bling ring, but when I use a Style Ring, I drop my phone a lot less than when I use a PopSocket that I have to pinch “Live long and prosper” all day.
The Good
- Gives a firm hold on the phone.
- Can be used as a phone stand.
- You can choose from a lot of different designs.
- Suitable for most phone cases
The Bad
- May not stick well to cases made of silicone or that are waterproof
- Some people may find the ring design less comfortable than a traditional grip.

FAQs
A PopSocket is a small, circular device that attaches to the back of a phone or tablet. It can be used as a grip, stand, or cord wrap.
PopSockets can be reused, but they may lose their adhesive strength over time. They can be removed and repositioned multiple times, but eventually, the adhesive will wear out and a new PopSocket will need to be attached.
PopSockets can be customized with a variety of designs, colors, and patterns. Some companies offer the option to create a custom design with a personal photo or logo.
