Check Laptop Generation: Even if you bought a new desktop or laptop computer with an Intel Core i7 processor, that doesn’t mean you have the newest or fastest processor. In the past, Intel and other chip makers used to put the speed of their processors on the box, and a higher number used to mean a better processor.
But because hertz don’t really show how well a processor works, Intel changed the way its chips are named with the Core series to move their marketing away from hertz. Today, there are four groups of consumer processors besides Pentium.
These are Core i3, Core i5, Core i7, and Core i9. But a Core i7 on a laptop is not the same as a Core i7 on a desktop computer, and a Core i5 from 2017 is not the same as a Core i5 from 2016.

What is the Generation crap?
Well, the generation of the processor refers to the year that the processor in the laptop came out. At least it doesn’t work with AMD processors (it might be wrong sometimes). Also, with each new processor, the company adds or takes away transistors, which improves performance, power use, cache, core, threads, and other things. Also, the size of the Processor may change depending on the generation of the processor. It may be smaller or thinner.
