By holding down the CTRL (Windows) or CMD (Mac) key while clicking on any of the checkboxes, you can easily select or deselect ALL of the items shown. ALL of the items on the list will have their checkboxes Check or Uncheck songs in new iTunes. Note that this affects everything on the screen, not just the things you have highlighted in iTunes. If you want to limit your choices, you can use the iTunes Browser to choose a specific Genre, Album, or Artist, or you can filter based on Search criteria or a playlist.
How to Check or Uncheck songs in new iTunes
- Run latest version of iTunes on your computer.
- Click on one playlist under the menu of “Playlists” in iTunes left sidebar.
- In the left part of the iTunes window, you will see all the songs in the playlist. Thus, you can hold down the command key and then hit on the checkbox next to the song name. This can be applied in every playlist.
How to Sync Only Checked Songs in iTunes
- Run iTunes on your computer and make sure the version of it is the latest one.
- Insert your iDevice into computer and then click on its icon at the top of the sidebar.
- Click on “Settings> Summary” successively in the left sidebar.
- In the right part of the iTunes window, you need to put a check mark beside the option of “Sync only checked songs and videos” under the function area of “Options”.
- Click on “Done” button at the bottom right corner of the interface to confirm your setting.
- Hit on “Library> Songs” from the sidebar to call out the song list in iTunes library on computer.
- Check the songs you desire to sync to your iDevice by putting a check mark in the box next to the music name. If you do not want to sync a certain song to your iDevice, you can remove the check mark next to the song name.
- Hit on the “Sync” button to invoke the syncing process.

In the songs layout you may see checkboxes next to each track. The check/uncheck selection options simply check or uncheck each tick box for each track in the current selection of tracks. You select everything with Ctrl+A, or range by clicking one track, then shift when clicking another to select everything in between.
In the Music app on your Mac, click Songs below Library in the sidebar. Deselect the checkbox next to the song. If you don’t see checkboxes to the left of the song titles, choose Music > Settings, click General, then make sure “Songs list checkboxes” is selected. See Change General settings.
While it is playing, click either the iTunes or Music menu (whichever you have) at the very top left of your computer. Then click Preferences and look for the General tab. There you can check “Show — songs list checkboxes.” See below. Once you set it, the checkboxes only show in View > As Songs.
