In addition to 5G connectivity, the Stylus 5G has some other hardware upgrades, such as a bigger battery, more storage and RAM (256GB and 6GB on the version I have), and a newer Snapdragon 480 processor. There is a fun new mode for making GIFs that works well with a stylus. Fun is good! But it feels pretty much like the same phone: the back camera array is the same, except for a different macro sensor, the 6.8-inch screen is the same, and the phone is about the same size overall.
The Moto G Stylus 5G is designed in a way that meets a lot of the requirements for a flagship phone. It has a 6.8-inch FHD+ display with a 120Hz refresh rate that makes scrolling smooth and makes sure writing on the screen looks clear. The 16-megapixel front-facing camera fits through a hole in the top centre of the screen. The volume rocker and fingerprint sensor are both on the right side of the phone.
You just put your finger on the sensor, and the phone will open. The SIM card tray and MicroSD card tray are on the left side of the phone. MicroSD cards can be used to add up to 1TB of extra storage to the phone, but it will come with a 256GB card already in it. On the bottom of the phone is a 3.5mm headphone jack and a USB-C port, which can be used to charge the phone and move data to and from a computer. The built-in place to store the stylus is also at the bottom.
Press the top of the stylus to take it off, and then just slide it back into place to store it. The rear-camera array, which is made up of three cameras, is on the back of the phone. There’s a 50-megapixel main camera, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera that doubles as a macro camera, and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. The lenses are stacked vertically on the left side of the housing. This is a common way for Android device makers to set up their cameras. The Moto G Stylus 5G doesn’t look or feel like anything new or different. It looks a lot like the Motorola Edge Plus, but there are a few differences.
The Moto G Stylus 5G has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 processor that lets it connect to both mmWave and Sub6 5G networks. Wi-Fi 802.11ac and Bluetooth 5.1 are two other ways to connect. All of this is powered by a 5,000mAh battery, which Motorola says will last for two full days of use. The model has a total of 512GB of storage, 256GB of which comes from the internal storage and 256GB from the microSD card. The memory on the G Stylus 5G is 8GB.
