The LG Tone Free are a brand-new set of TWS earbuds that LG has introduced in India. The LG TONE Free FP9 comes with a variety of revolutionary features, including Medical Grade Gel, Enhanced Active Noise Cancellation (ANC), Meridian-tuned Premium Sound, and a UVnano charging dock with ultraviolet radiation that sanitises the earbuds and reduces bacteria while charging.
Design-wise, not much has changed; the LG Tone Free FP9 looks much like the LG Tone Free FP9; the charging case is rather small, making it simple to carry in your pocket; and the matte finish gives it a clean, modern appearance. Although the case doesn’t appear particularly strong, it can withstand unforeseen drops (dropped it twice but the case handled it). The charging case contains a USB-C connector for wired charging and LED indications for battery level. However, wireless charging is also a possibility, which makes charging the earbuds really simple.
Both the casing and the earbuds have a premium feel to their construction. The earphones are sweat-resistant and feature an IPX4 rating. Consequently, you can wear them worry-free at the gym or on a jog. There are three pairs of eartips included, and it’s crucial to pick the proper size pair for the best ANC. Although you may use these buds without the companion app, I definitely advise utilising it because it offers a tonne of personalization options for these buds.
The audio output is lacking in loudness but not in quality to begin with. The stereo effect is enhanced by the balanced, crisp, and earbuds’ good channel separation. Five pre-set equaliser settings are available through the app for a customised audio experience: immersive, natural, bass boost, treble boost, and 3D sound staging. The 3D sound stage equaliser is what makes spatial sound effects possible. The LG Tone Free FP9 has three microphones on each device for calls: two on the outside (one to pick up voice and cancel echo, and another to minimise background noise), and one inside each earbud for active noise cancellation. The earbuds are effective for making calls.
The ANC has high and low modes for a comfortable experience, speaking of characteristics. The parameters for ambient sound also come in two profiles. The ambient sound mode and ANC both function as intended, although the experience is not the finest. As the name implies, it enables talking when the right earbud is held close to the lips. It functions, but requires significant development.
On-battery time has improved, but only slightly, like other aspects. With ANC turned off, the earphones last around seven hours and five hours, respectively. These on-battery stats are decent, but competitors provide better data. The earphones last around 15 hours when used in a variety of ways, taking into account the case battery. It takes roughly an hour to charge the case while the earbuds are in them, which is good but not ideal.
