The 24-inch Vizio D-Series (D24f-F1) is the most economical model in Vizio’s budget-friendly D-Series collection, and it achieves this status by being the smallest option and skipping 4K resolution in favour of a reliable full-HD panel. Vizio further sweetens the deal with its SmartCast smart TV platform and an attractive pricing. The 24-inch Vizio D24f-F1 delivers a practical blend of smart features and reasonably priced performance, whether you’re moving into a small dorm room with limited space or want a small TV in the kitchen for following along with recipes and culinary videos online.
The D-Series actually looks quite slick for a cheap TV. The D-Series seems fairly contemporary, at least from the front, with its thin plastic legs, narrow bezel surrounding the screen, and low-profile design. The D-Series is pretty thick in the middle and protrudes out a few inches, so it’s not entirely modern, as you can see when you spin it over to the side. There are two HDMI connections on this TV (HDMI 1 supports ARC), two composite inputs, and both digital optical audio out and 3.5mm aux outputs.
In this pricing range, color accuracy was also good. The Delta-E rating for the D24f-F1 was 3.1, which is good for this price range. Some low-priced versions, such as the Sharp LC-40LB480U (8.5) and the TCL 32S305 (5.4), were considerably less precise. Others are comparable or even superior, such as the Samsung 32-inch M5300 (3.2) and the Hisense 43H6D (2.4). In our viewing tests, we observed slightly oversaturated colors, with greens and blues pushed a bit too strongly and reds that appeared slightly orange. The two 2-watt speakers on the set don’t produce much sound, and the bass levels are fairly low, but they do provide very clear speech.
Speaking of streaming services, every significant one is present and well-represented. You may watch shows on the streaming services we previously mentioned, such as Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, and Disney Plus, as well as a few other less popular ones, such as Adult Swim for Rick and Morty and Peacock for We Are Lady Parts. Of course, a membership is necessary in order to access the majority of those streaming services. If that’s not your thing, you can watch WatchFree TV from Vizio, which combines certain traditional channels like MTV with internet-only stations to produce a cable-like experience with advertisements that you can watch when there’s nothing else on.
The main drawback of SmartCast on the D-Series is that it operates a little bit more slowly than on higher-end models, and if you don’t enable fast start, which puts the TV in low-power mode when you’re not watching it, the power-on process can take a long. Even though doing the latter may ultimately cost a little more money, it will save you minutes of your time waiting for SmartCast to load.
