The OnePlus phones have always been great deals, but the prices have been going up with each new version. Now, OnePlus is competing with Samsung in the flagship market. The company can still bring a lot of value to the market, but not at the high end. The Nord N200 5G is the least expensive 5G phone in the US right now, and it comes with a very low “5G tax.” For $189 at Amazon, you get a 1080p screen, the brand new Snapdragon 480 SoC, and pretty good software.
The Nord N200 isn’t perfect, but that just makes me think of how things used to be. The camera could be better, and you lose OP staples like Dash Charge and the alert slider. Still, the specs are better than phones with similar prices, which is what made OnePlus stand out in the first place.
[content-egg-block template=offers_logo hide=price]The phone has a fingerprint sensor on the side that doubles as the power button. It also has a 3.5mm headphone jack, a single speaker at the bottom, and a volume rocker. Biometrics are accurate and ergonomic despite its thin design. The N200’s sleek design makes it seem more expensive than it is.
The phone is made of plastic and has a beautiful prismatic finish. It is easy to hold and use because it is thin and light. This is a strong device that does not feel cheap at all. If the design has any flaws, it would be the thick chin and chunky bezels that frame the screen. The display, on the other hand, is really the best in its class.
It is a bright, clear LCD with good contrast and brightness. The colours look bright but natural, and the whole experience is as smooth as butter, which is cool to see on a cheap device.
The phone comes with 64GB of storage, which is a lot for the price. This shows that media consumption is one of the main goals of the device. There’s also microSD support built into the SIM tray on the top left, but it’s limited to 256GB, which isn’t very much compared to the usual 2TB.
The Nord N200 has three cameras, with the main 13MP camera being the most important. This camera comes with a 2MP macro sensor and a 2MP depth sensor, but neither of them worked well in tests. Around the front is a 16MP camera for taking selfies.
The OnePlus Nord N200 should last a long time on a charge since it has a 5,000 mAh battery. That’s true, but it’s not as good as the phones on our list of the best phones for battery life. A little bit, but not as much as you might think, because the display is 90Hz.
