The Razer Viper V2 Pro is a wireless gaming mouse that adds to Razer’s well-liked Viper range. Compared to the Razer Viper Ultimate, it features significant design updates and enhancements while maintaining the same symmetrical shape. Razer has drastically lightened the weight of this mouse, but they were able to do so in part by getting rid of some features from earlier models, such the side grips, RGB lighting, and ambidextrous controls. In addition to weight adjustments, this mouse features a new Razer Focus Pro 30K sensor and redesigned optical switches. Additionally, according to Razer, battery life and wireless performance have been enhanced.
The Razer Viper V2 Pro and the original Viper mouse are nearly identical, but the devil is in the details. The V2 reduces the number of buttons to six and does away with the ambidextrous design and two right-side buttons. This gives the V2 a cleaner, more minimalist look while lowering its weight to 2.08 ounces (for our white test unit; the black version is an infinitesimally lighter 2.05 ounces).
In comparison to the Viper Ultimate, the remaining two left-side buttons have also undergone some cosmetic changes to become less flush with the mouse. Additionally, Razer improved the mouse’s switches, which now guarantee up to 90 million clicks as opposed to 70 million for the Ultimate. The Viper V2 Pro is almost identical in form to the earlier model and other wireless gaming mice that favour palm grips, including the HyperX Pulsefire Haste, measuring 1.49 by 2.27 by 4.99 inches (HWD).
Even though it feels lighter than the Logitech G Pro X Superlight Wireless Gaming Mouse, its chassis never gives the impression that it will shatter if dropped. Although customers who prefer a wired connection merely need to plug in the accompanying SpeedFlex cable, the included USB wireless dongle offers an extraordinarily stable experience over a 2.4GHz connection, the standard for any wireless gaming mouse. Instead of the micro USB port that the Viper Ultimate had, the latter makes use of a USB-C port.
The Razer Synapse interface allows you to modify the Viper V2 Pro’s many functions. As soon as you connect the mouse to your computer, a request to install the application appears. This is fantastic because it eliminates the requirement for you to download the software from a third-party website.
The app can control several Razer devices, but for the purposes of this review, we’ll focus on the customization possibilities for the Viper V2 Pro. You can set profiles for different settings and alter the behaviour of each mouse button under the Customize tab. You can select one of five sensitivity settings (range from 400 to 6,400 DPI) or use a slider to adjust the DPI in the Performance tab. You can alter the polling rate on this tab, which is crucial for games that demand quick reflexes and accuracy.
