The best Fitbit watch for 2022 will be the Fitbit Sense 2. It has the same obsession with health tracking as the original Fitbit Sense, but it has more ways to track stress and a physical button instead of a pressure-sensitive spot on the side. It’s still a good choice for passive, casual health and fitness tracking and for people who don’t work out as hard and don’t care if the heart rate accuracy isn’t perfect.

The biggest change is that there is now a physical button. This takes the place of the capacitive groove on the first Sense and on the Versa 3. The addition of the button is a good change, since the original model’s unreliable and finicky groove was one of the things people hated the most.
It is a lot more square than an Apple Watch and a lot more round than a Pixel Watch. With this design, Fitbit was clearly trying to make a square look friendly, and it really works. The top is made of bent glass, the sides are made of aluminium, and most of the bottom is made of plastic. When you hold the Sense 2 up to the light, you can see that the screen has a sort of metallic edge. This is what sets the Sense 2 apart from the cheaper Versa 4 and makes the ECG feature work.
The Fitbit Sense 2 also has a physical button on the side. The first version only had a touch-sensitive area. Even though the second one sounds more tech-savvy, it’s much easier to use the first one. The technology behind the screen on the Sense 2 watch isn’t new, but it can be set to “always on” so that it stays lit all day instead of turning off after a few seconds. This cuts the battery life in half, but it makes the watch much better.
Even the best smartwatches haven’t been able to beat fitness trackers when it comes to battery life. Fitbit says that the Sense 2 can be used for more than six days before it needs to be charged again. With all the health tracking features turned on, including the always-on display, sleep tracking, and taking regular ECG and EDA readings, the watch lasted me about three and a half days before I had to charge it. Even though that’s better than most smartwatches on the market, except maybe the TicWatch Pro 3 Ultra, it’s not quite what I was hoping for.
