The LG Gram 16 (2022) is an updated version of the LG Gram 16 (2021), which was already a great laptop. Its 17-inch version was on our coveted list of the best laptops. LG was able to shrink it a little bit, but it got a little bit heavier. The processor is now a 12th generation Intel Core CPU that is much faster. It is paired with fast LPDDR5 memory. PCIe Gen 4.0 has also been added to the storage subsystem, and Windows 11 has been made the default operating system.
There are also a number of smaller improvements, such as an anti-glare IPS display, a full HD webcam, and LG Glance, a feature that could be seen as very useful, a little confusing, or almost creepy. Even though the Gram 16 is marketed as a high-end product, it still costs a lot. It competes with the Apple MacBook Pro 16 in this way. Compared to its bigger brother, the LG Gram 17, this one costs less and has a longer battery life. This makes it a better buy, especially as a business laptop.
The LG Gram 16 has a high-resolution, 16-inch, 16:10 display with 189 pixels per inch and a resolution of 2560 x 1600 pixels. LG has also made sure that the 2022 models have IPS panels with matte screens. In terms of brightness, contrast, and colour, this panel is the same as the 2021 Gram 16’s.
The maximum brightness is about 350 nits, which is plenty bright for indoor use but may not be bright enough for outdoor use. It can print a wide range of colours, covering 99% of the DCI-P3 colour spectrum and 140% of the sRGB standard. The colours are bright and clear. This makes it great for everyday use and for possible creative work that needs accurate colour.
It has a refresh rate of 60 Hz and a GtG response time of about 40 ms, so it’s not great for gaming. Still, you won’t have any trouble running games that don’t need a lot of graphics power. There are laptops that are better for gamers than the Gram line, which is not made for this type of user.
The 80Wh battery is the same size as the one in the 16- and 17-inch models before it. If you choose the NVIDIA graphics option, this goes up to 90Wh, so it wasn’t a surprise that the battery life was still an impressive 14.5 hours when streaming a video over WiFi with the screen dimmed and in the power saver mode. If you just type offline, you’ll see more than this.
