The Logitech C310 Webcam is one of the cheaper models made by the company. In fact, there is only one Logitech webcam (the C270 HD) that costs less, and if you have the right Logitech coupon code, you can get them both for even less money. But cheap and inexpensive are not the same thing. The Logitech C310 costs less than $50 and has auto light correction and 720/30fps for a pretty sharp image. It also has a microphone that cuts down on noise, and it’s easy to put on laptops and monitors.
One of the few features you do get is automatic light correction, which uses Logitech’s RightLight 2 to set the lighting on the main person in the frame and then lightens or darkens the video to match. It does a good job of keeping the light level of your shot the same in low-light and uneven-light situations, but this isn’t very useful in a dark room.
Instead, it gives you the same amount of light even if people keep walking by and blocking your light source, like when you’re in front of a window. The Logotech C310 also has a built-in microphone that is supposed to reduce noise, but we didn’t find this to be very useful. On a few test calls, you could hear clearly enough to understand what was being said. But also every sound from a noisy desktop computer and the whole street outside because a window was left open.
If you want to buy the Logitech C310, it’s safe to say that you shouldn’t have high hopes for the quality of your broadcasts or don’t need them at all if you just want a quick, cheap way to get on camera. This is still a great choice for students, especially if you can connect headphones with a stick microphone or a USB mic to improve the sound.
The Logitech HD Webcam C310 chose to use a plastic lens, which makes it less durable and slightly lowers the quality. But it is easier to handle than the tiny Logitech HD Pro Webcam C920 because it is 6 x 3 x 8.25 inches and weighs 9.6 ounces. It would have been much better to record video at 1080p, but 720p is still good.
The Logitech C615 HD webcam shows that it can record in 1080p, but during video calls, it drops to 720p. At least the auto-light correction in RightLight 2 was added to make up for the noticeable drop in resolution. Also, the 5MP optical sensor and Logitech webcam software work pretty well together to make improvements. The Logitech HD Webcam C525, on the other hand, has 8MP to work with. But if you want to stream, the Razer Kiyo has a built-in ring light that will help you see.
