It’s not always clear what the difference is between a game router and its more common siblings. That’s not the case with the Asus RT-AX82U, though. It’s easy to use and looks great. The four vertical antennas are the first thing that stands out. The matte black finish and angular body strike a good mix between stylish and aggressive.
With the antenna, it’s 10.8 by 7.3 by 6.5 inches and weighs 1.6 pounds. There are four status LEDs that make it easy to see if the device is connected. For power, a WAN link, and both Wi-Fi frequencies, these are what you need. The LED lights on a gaming router may have become its signature feature. Some people want all of their accessories to have RGB lighting, and the RT-AX82U gives them that option with a “Lighting vibe” setting. This has several modes with more than one colour and different lighting effects that can be used for different occasions or feelings.

Where to Get ASUS RT-AX82U?
The Asus RT-AX82U did pretty well when it came to speed. With ductwork in the way, we try routers both “near” (eight feet away) and “far” on different floors. NetPerf software and a Wi-Fi 6 client are used for the speed test. For the second one, we have a laptop with an Intel Wi-Fi 6 AX201 160MHz wireless adapter that is set to use the 5 GHz frequency’s largest 160 MHz channel width. It has very stable speeds, especially on the 5 GHz bands, the Asus RT-AX82U. The fact that speeds dropped so little on the far 5 GHz test was also amazing. It looks like this is a good choice if you have TVs or game consoles that aren’t close to the router.
The next thing we looked at was how well games ran. Our laptop of choice was an Asus ROG G512 Strix i7 RTX 2070 16GB/512GB. As an internal check, we used both wired and wireless links to run the same tests. A CAT 5e line was used to connect the laptop to the router for the wired tests. We did tests both when the plug was plugged into an Ethernet port on the router and when it was plugged into the Gaming Port.
