The Ultimate Ears WONDERBOOM 3 is the next generation of the brand’s budget speaker, the Ultimate Ears WONDERBOOM 2, which the manufacturer claims is made from recycled plastic. The design is identical to the WONDERBOOM 2, with Ultimate Ears’ iconic oversized volume buttons on the front.
It is surprisingly well made, with a built-in loop for easy transport and a dust and water resistance rating of IP67, proving it is fully dustproof and can be immersed in water up to 1m deep for up to 30 minutes. The speaker is designed to be taken outdoors and can withstand minor bumps and scrapes. It is also advertised to float on water, making it the perfect poolside companion.
[content-egg-block template=offers_logo hide=price]The Ultimate Ears WONDERBOOM 3 is also suitable for outdoor use – it is IP67 dustproof and waterproof and can be immersed in 1m of water for 30 minutes, so you can take it outside without worrying about getting wet. It is also advertised to float in water, so you can enjoy floating music while relaxing in the pool.
If you put it in salt or chlorinated water, you are advised to always rinse it off with fresh water. It has a built-in hook so you can attach it to your bag when you are out and about. And while they won’t be loud, they won’t compress at maximum volume, so you can enjoy your favourite tunes in crystal clear sound, and with a long battery life of over 22 hours, they’re perfect for long periods of listening spent outdoors.
The Outdoor Boost mode is unbalanced, but is ideal for listening outdoors where there are usually no walls for the sound to bounce off. It sounds weird if accidentally enabled indoors, but outdoors it actually makes a difference, so adjust the sound profile to compensate for the bass. When listened to on the roof of my apartment, Outdoor Boost helped the speakers to carry the sound further in the buzz of the city than when this setting was not enabled.
