Set BIOS Password In Windows: A BIOS password stops your PC from booting without the right password. That’s, one can use a bootable USB or CD or any other method to boot into your PC without entering the BIOS password. The BIOS password immediate appears right after you turn on the PC. Without entering the correct BIOS password, a user can’t even access BIOS settings. For example, when you have set a BIOS password, one can’t use third-party login screen password unlocking tools to access your PC. In fact, when the BIOS password is set, users can’t install another operating system as effectively.
If someone has access your PC protected with BIOS password, he/she may be capable of accessing your data by removing the hard drive or SSD and then connecting the same to a different PC. Besides that, the BIOS can also be reset if someone has physical access to your PC however the process isn’t easy, especially on notebooks and tablets. This means that the BIOS/UEFI password provides an extra layer of safety to your data, and it is not the ultimate solution to protect your information.
Why you need to set BIOS Password
Even if you have a login Password on your Laptop or computer, the BIOS still provides a loophole for hackers. To close this loophole, one Should add the password to the BIOS. A BIOS password is the strong password which secures and makes the Computer or laptop completely unusable. You Can Enter the Operating System only if you enter BIOS password. That makes your Computer Extremely Protected. If you purchased the PC with Windows 8, Windows 8.1 or Windows 10, when your PC supports UEFI, and you must set UEFI password. And if your PC is not compatible with the UEFI, then it will be BIOS for sure. BIOS setting process is not the same for all the computers. The process varies from manufacturer to manufacturer, but the process is more or less the same for many PCs.
Steps to Set BIOS Password in Windows
Step 1. First of all, Enter the BIOS Settings by Continuously Press the F2 key on your keyboard while your Computer Boots. Most of the Computer have F2 key, but You can always look what is displayed on the screen when your Computer boots.
Step 2. Once you are in the BIOS Setup Utility, you should navigate to Security tab with the keyboard arrows. The BIOS menu layout is not completely the same for all desktops. Now Select “Set Supervisor Password” and Press Enter.
Step 3. You see the Pop-up enter your BIOS password. Once done, press Enter, you should Get a popup saying changes have been saved.
Step 4. Now you Press the F10 to Save and Exit Setup. You may need to go to File first, and select Save and Exit Setup or Press Enter and select Yes to exit BIOS.
Next time if you boot your Computer, You will be asked for a password to entering the Operating System. It’s Important to Select Password that is Strong that which you can Remember.
