Don’t know how to Turn PS5 From Vertical To Horizontal Orientation? The PS5’s orientation has become a big deal, and some people think that a design flaw could make vertical damage possible. We’ll talk more about whether or not that claim is true and what we know so far below, but it’s clear that it’s not the best idea, since the PS5 is so big that it’s much easier to have both options when making room for it.
Sony has released a “teardown” video in which Yasuhiro Ootori, VP of mechanical design at Sony Interactive Entertainment, completely takes apart a PS5 to show how its hardware and other basic functions work. Even though the video was clearly made to be a “Did You Know?”-style bit of fun, it does show a couple of things about the console that could be interesting. For example, it looks like changing a PS5 from a horizontal to a vertical position will be a little harder than was thought before. Here are the many ways ow to Turn PS5 From Vertical To Horizontal Orientation.
Remove the screw
- Disconnect the HDMI and power cables from the console.
- In its default vertical position, the PS5 base is held on by a single screw.
- You’ll need a flathead screwdriver to unscrew the base, or if you aren’t near your garage, you can always make do with a dime or a penny to get the job done.
Store the screw in the base
- Remove the base and the screw holding it in place.
- Store the little bolt inside the stand itself.
- Find a small compartment underneath the stand.
- Push the screw into a special slot.
- Ensure it is securely in place.
- Don’t forget to do this to avoid misplacing the screw.
- It should always be right with your system.
- Useful if you want to change the position again.
Use the provided cap to plug the screw hole
- The compartment also contains a small black cap that can be removed and used to plug the gap that the screw left behind in the base of the PS5.
- It’s another easy fit that will cover up any unnecessary gaps in the PS5.
- If and when you want to switch it back to the vertical orientation, you can remove this plug and place it back inside the stand, where it will click in place.
Rotate the stand
- Screw: The screw in question.
- Rattle: The screw does not move or make noise.
- Stand: The object holding the screw.
- Locked: The screw is securely fastened in place.
- Rotate: The action of turning or twisting the stand.
- Revealing: The process of uncovering or exposing.
- Hidden door: A secret or concealed opening.
- Covers up: Conceals or hides.
- Compartment: A small enclosed space or storage area.
Insert the stand in line with the console marks
- Align the two clips of the stand onto the PS5 as shown in the image above.
- Another easy fit, you’ll know that you’ve attached it properly when the stand clicks into place and feels firm.
- However, keep in mind that it isn’t “locked.” You need to be relatively gentle when you set down the system in the next step.
Place the PS5 console on its side
- Flip the PS5 console onto its side.
- Reconnect all the cables.
- Switch your television on.
- You’re ready to play a few next-gen games now that the console is positioned in a sturdy and horizontal format.
Can the PS5 lie on its side?
Just like its predecessor, the PS5 can be laid out flat on its side or stand up. Most of Sony’s marketing materials only show the PS5 standing up, but the stand that comes with it makes it easy to lay it flat without it wobbling. In fact, console repair experts have said that laying the PS5 on its side is the best way to use it. That’s because the cooling system on a number of PS5s, the exact number of which is still unknown, seems to be broken. This defect can cause the liquid cooling metal to leak out of the seal around the APU when it gets very hot during long gaming sessions and land on other parts, which could cause an electrical short.
