Google’s YouTube Music is a music streaming service that lets users listen to and watch videos for their favorite songs. This service takes the place of Google Play Music, which has been shut down. As long as you don’t mind the ads that play every few songs, it’s free to use. With a premium subscription, you can skip the ads and download songs to listen to when you’re not online. We mentioned below are the ways to fix ‘YouTube Music Not Downloading Error’ Issue
Ways To Fix ‘YouTube Music Not Downloading Playlist Error’ Issue
Availability
YouTube has a huge collection of videos, and you can usually find more than one version of the same song there. It’s possible that the song you added to your playlist is no longer available. For instance, We added Ruby by Kaiser Chiefs to a playlist, but then We couldn’t listen to it anymore.
By doing a simple search on YouTube and the YouTube Music app, you can see that the song is no longer there, but there is another version. We think you should always add songs from the artist’s or label’s official channels if you can.
There could also be a problem with where things are available. You find a public playlist that has songs you like and add it to your own list. But can you get those songs in your country? So many things come into play, like the rights to the music and the contracts between labels. Even though most artists are on YouTube, the odds are still in your favor.
Storage Permissions

Open Settings, go to Apps > Manage apps, look for YouTube Music, and open it. Depending on the phone you are using, things may be a little different.
Tap on App permissions and make sure that Storage is checked. You can try turning it off and then back on again to get things going. Check to see if YouTube Music playlists still don’t download all the way.
Clear cache, Delete Data
If the YouTube Music app won’t download playlists, it could be because of old cache data. Open the app list in Settings like you did before, look for the YouTube Music app, and open it.
Tap the Clear data button at the bottom of the screen to delete cache and data. You might have to sign in again to the YouTube Music app, and all the playlists you downloaded will be gone. Don’t forget that.
Clean Reinstall
Before you uninstall the YouTube Music app, you should delete all cache files and data from your phone, as in the previous step. That would give you a clean start and get rid of any bugs or mistakes. You can also get the most recent version of the app from the Play Store.
Remove and Retry
It’s an old trick that sometimes still works. If YouTube Music doesn’t download all the songs in the playlist or stops in the middle of doing so, it might be because of a bug or error of some kind. Tap Library, then tap Downloads.
Tap the menu icon with three dots next to the playlist you want to get rid of and choose Remove download. Go back to Library and choose the playlist you want to download from the Playlists section. Tap the menu button, then choose Download.
Limitations
You can only add and download so many songs to a playlist because of two things. The first one is how much space your phone has for storage. How much are you left with? Open Settings and check under About phone.
The second one was required by YouTube. Product expert Felix Beuster says that YouTube playlists can only hold up to 5000 videos. So We think that YouTube Music playlists should have the same limit. Even though that’s a nice number, some power users may have already reached their limit.
Download settings
YouTube Music has a setting called “Download over Wi-Fi only” that helps you save mobile bandwidth. Tap on your picture, then go to Settings and choose Library & Downloads.
Make sure that setting is not turned on, and if it is, turn it off. If it is turned on, turn it off. You can also change the quality of the audio and video here. Though, We suggest you use Wi-Fi to download. It will save carrier data and make it faster to download playlists.
Newly Added songs Sync
So, when you download a playlist and add a new song to it, what happens? It should be downloaded to your device automatically, if possible. Some users have said that the sync doesn’t work as it should, and that the song isn’t available offline.
It does what it says, and it takes about 24–48 hours. This is as slow as all get out, but it does work. Some users say that the Playlist tab instead of the Playlist list works for downloading the playlist. We don’t believe that, but you can try.
