At one time, we thought that 144 Hz was the minimum for a good eSports game monitor. In the fast-paced games of today, frame rate is everything, and quick reactions are the key to winning. But that standard has gone up to 240 Hz in the last two years. There are a lot of FHD screens that run at 240 Hz and don’t cost much. But if you have a good video card, QHD gives you a much better mix of speed and clarity.
We have already reviewed some 240 Hz QHD monitors, but when we were putting together the test results for my most recent review, of BenQ’s Mobiuz EX270QM, we were surprised to find that my database only had a few of these displays. They are still a bit of a rarity, so they cost more than most things. A lot of attention is being paid to the best 4K gaming monitors right now, but 240 Hz will beat 144 Hz every day and twice on Sunday if you want the best game experience possible.

BenQ Mobiuz EX270QM: Design
BenQ’s Mobiuz gaming monitors have had the same look for a few years, and the new EX270QM doesn’t do much to change that. It’s mostly black, with a few silver and orange accents, and has a pretty low-key RGB lighting system. The quality of the build is good but not great, and the general feel is modern but not exactly cutting edge.
It looks like a good monitor. But it might not look as expensive as it really is. Either way, this screen is completely flat, so it’s not a good option if you’re looking for the best curved game monitor, which makes sense for a 27-inch screen. You can buy this monitor from its official website
BenQ Mobiuz EX270QM: Panel quality
The EX270QM is a 1440p, 240Hz monitor that doesn’t really stand out among its competitors. You can spend hours adjusting the display settings, but you still won’t find the sweet spot. While the screen worked fine for playing games and watching videos and photos, it felt like detail had been sacrificed for power compared to the other three panels we had access to during testing.
BenQ’s HDR technology isn’t the finest of the best. This is because our 2018-era, 4K, 60Hz display. We’ve used it with an Xbox Series S and a PC since we bought it with our PC, and HDR has always made the pictures appear off. Colors that should be more bright on television never look quite right.
Gaming Performance
The BenQ Mobiuz EX270QM looks good with the choices that come with it. It’s bright, but not too bright. It has a maximum SDR brightness of 360 nits, but the monitor’s usual game mode turns it down to a more comfortable level.
We like that the monitor can show up to 98 percent of DCI-P3 colors and 90 percent of AdobeRGB colors. This is a great performance, and only monitors with an OLED screen or Quantum Dot technology can do better.
BenQ Mobiuz EX270QM: Sound Quality
Like its other game monitors, the BenQ Mobiuz EX270QM has a 2.1 treVolo sound system built in. First, we need to say that the audio controls are separate from the audio controls in Windows. So, make sure your Windows volume is at 100% before using the monitor for music, and then use the included remote to change the volume of your system.
Final Words
If your system can handle it or if you have an Xbox Series X or PlayStation 5, the BenQ MOBIUZ EX270QM 27″ QHD gaming monitor is a great pick. Even though the speakers aren’t the best, they sound much better than speakers in other computers or even laptops.
