It’s refreshing to see an MMO mouse, even if it is trying to reimagine the button side-cluster like so many of today’s top gaming mice do for professional eSports and FPS players. The new Darkstar from Corsair is a wireless MMO/MOBA gaming mouse with 15 customizable buttons, featuring a three-click tilt wheel and a distinctive six-button side cluster. It also has four configurable mouse-tilt gestures in case that isn’t enough buttons for your typical massively multiplayer online action game.
The Darkstar’s price of $169.99 is higher than that of many high-end gaming mice, but it does include all the features mentioned above, including the ability to move buttons and tilt the mouse. (It’s not much more than the Razer Naga V2 Pro, but that mouse also has three different side plates that you can swap out.) The Darkstar is (relatively) light, comfy, and easy to maneuver; it also has a superb sensor and performs really well.

Corsair Darkstar: Design
Using the Darkstar Wireless, with its wider and flatter design, takes some getting used to because I’m becoming too accustomed to FPS-first mice. A soft-touch matte plastic coating and stylish RGB lights give this device a premium appearance, but the biggest selling point is how comfortable it is to use. The overall design is minimalist and sophisticated looking on the desktop thanks to its clean lines, asymmetrical patterns, and precisely cut panels.
It should come as no surprise that we find the design of the Corsair Darkstar Wireless to be appealing. However, I did quickly disable the RGB lighting that cycles across the mouse’s center body. The shape is a happy medium between the sharper angles of improved ergonomics and the flatter profile that’s easier to operate with your palm. That makes using it for extended periods of time really pleasant, but that’s not all this design excels at.
Corsair Darkstar: Performance
The Marksman 26K optical sensor, also used in the Katar Elite Wireless, is built into the Darkstar. It offers a maximum sensitivity of 26,000 DPI, a maximum speed of 650 IPS, and can withstand acceleration of up to 50Gs. It has a DPI slider with a very small granularity of adjustment (not strictly necessary, but fine), going from 100 all the way up to 26,000.
Corsair’s “Slipstream” 2.4GHz wifi allows for a wireless connection with a maximum polling rate of 2,000 Hz. Omron optical switches, which are faster, more reliable, and more durable than mechanical switches, are used for the mouse’s major buttons. The Darkstar performs admirably in games thanks to the inclusion of Corsair’s proprietary Marksman sensor, which is on par with sensors found in other brands’ premium mouse.
Final Words
With its superior sensor, comfortable design, and eye-catching RGB lighting scheme, Corsair’s Darkstar Wireless MOBA gaming mouse is in the running for first place. The mouse’s 15 buttons all work wonderfully, and its response speed is incredible. Corsair’s iCUE software astonished me with its high quality and low system footprint. However, the mouse didn’t quite make the cut due to its poor battery life and poorly placed top buttons.
Corsair Darkstar review: The good and The bad
The Darkstar has a fantastic sensor and it performs very well; in addition, it is (relatively) lightweight, comfy, and easy to maneuver. The Darkstar also has amazing ergonomics.
The Good
- Mouse-tilt gestures
- Great performance
The Bad
- Battery life isn’t great
Questios and Answers
Its 15 customizable keys and unique features make it a good buy for $169.99 and make it suitable for games like Diablo 4, Battlefield 2042, and others. The price tag may be off-putting, but the build quality, functionality, illumination, and customization choices more than make up for it.
Conclusion. Corsair produces a wide variety of gaming mice for a variety of purposes, from dedicated first-person-shooter mice to more general-purpose mice for massively multiplayer online battle arenas (MMOBAs) or portability. Our favorite Corsair gaming mouse has a premium feel, but even their cheapest options are well-made.
