The Denon DHT-S517 tries to give you the best sound for your money. This is a soundbar and wireless subwoofer system that is ready for Dolby Atmos and can play movie soundtracks in 3.1.2 channels. From its small size to its good construction and finish, the DHT-S517 is an ordinary thing with a deadly serious goal.
The Denon DHT-S715 is easy to set up. There are enough ways to enter data. The subwoofer and soundbar almost immediately connect wirelessly after being plugged in. If “ease of use” is important to you, this Denon will be perfect for you. It’s hard to think of ways it could be easier to use. It’s one of the best cheap soundbars for people who don’t want to deal with a lot of extras.

Denon DHT-S517 review: Design
The soundbar part of the Denon DHT-S517 is a usefully small 1050 x 60 x 95mm / 41.3 x 2.4 x 3.7 in (WxHxD), which is no wider than the best 48- to 50-inch TVs and is unlikely to block the bottom of all but the lowest-hung screens. The cabinet is made of ordinary plastic, but the dark gray acoustic cloth on the front half makes it look and feel a little more expensive than it is.
On the front of the soundbar, there is a small logo and a row of four LED lights. The number of lights that are on and the color they show tell you about the source, audio format, and volume level. On the top, there are five buttons for turning the device on or off, pairing it with Bluetooth, choosing the input, and turning the volume up or down. You can buy this soundbar from its official webite
Denon DHT-S517 review: Connectivity and features
The Denon DHT-S517 doesn’t have any fancy Wi-Fi features. Instead, it uses wired connections and Bluetooth to connect to devices. Still, there are enough options here that you shouldn’t have any trouble connecting almost any source you want. There is an HDMI passthrough and support for HDMI eARC, so it works with the vast majority of TVs. To get the most out of the soundbar, you’ll probably want to stick with these connections.
Denon DHT-S517 review: Performance
When watching TV and movies, the DHT-clear S517’s voice was the first thing that stood out to us. The dedicated center channel does a great job of bringing dialogue to the forefront. If you still have trouble hearing what’s going on, you can choose from three levels of dialogue enhancement. These modes work pretty well, but we found that the soundbar was good enough on its own, so we turned the enhancement off most of the time.
Final Words
The DHT-S517 has a lot to like and even admire. It’s well-made and doesn’t draw too much attention to itself, and it plays movie sounds with real scale and confidence. It’s as good as any other product in the same price range when it comes to soundstaging, effects steering, and other things. But the soundbar and subwoofer don’t get along very well, and the subwoofer itself isn’t very good.
