The Edifier WH950NB Bluetooth wireless headphone has a wonderful design, can be worn for long periods of time without becoming uncomfortable, features physical buttons that are simple to use, and has effective active noise cancellation. Unfortunately, it’s also a headphone that won’t give its greatest performance unless you’re using a Bluetooth playback device that supports the LDAC codec.

If you don’t have one of those devices, you won’t get the most out of your purchase. This headphone will not perform at a level that is equivalent to that of other quality headphones that are priced in the same range for the vast majority of consumers. That does not imply that it does not offer nice sound at the lower-resolution SBC code.

Edifier WH950NB: Design

The Edifier WH950NB headphones are made to be as comfortable as possible. The headband is padded, and the earcups are made of a stuffed leatherette material that is very comfortable to wear for long amounts of time. The only clear branding on these headphones is the copper-colored Edifier logo. Other than that, there is no clear branding that makes you look like a living advertisement. Edifier WH950NB: Features

Even though the Edifier WH950NB has great ANC, it doesn’t have many other features. It does have Bluetooth 5.3, but it doesn’t have an AAC codec. If you have an iPhone, you’ll have to use the default SBC codec, which will still give you a good level of performance, but it won’t help you get Hi-Res audio quality.

Even though there is an LDAC codec, it is not widely used. These headphones lose points in our review because they don’t have AAC or aptX HD codecs. It does come with Google Fast Pairing, which makes pairing easy if you use an Android device.

Sound Performance

The WH950NB does a good job of putting layers behind and on top of each other, so it doesn’t sound too small. This gives a more open cone to spatial imaging, though this isn’t always clear. We found that the Edifier WH950NB was durable. We have used these every day for a few hours, and it’s only been two weeks since I’ve needed to let them charge. The total battery life is 55 hours without ANC, and it drops to 34 hours when ANC is turned on. This is to be expected, but I still think the battery life is a big plus for these headphones.

Final Words

The Edifier WH950NB headphones are comfy and have a simple look that makes them look great. The sound quality is great, but they don’t work with all smartphones because they don’t have SBC codec, and not all smartphones can use LDAC codec. There are also not enough AAC and aptX codecs, which is a shame. Aside from that, the ANC is the star of the show.
