The 40C1R is simple, with a thin black bezel, a clean rectangular stand, and a small lip with the controls along the bottom of the frame. When you turn on the monitor for the first time, you should open the settings right away and make changes. Both the default gamma curve and colour temperature are higher than I’d like, with colours that are too dark and a cold colour temperature. If you have the right hardware, you can do a full calibration, but the sRGB option in the “professional” menu will give you a much better picture right away. The gamma curve is now more accurate, and the colour temperature is less cold and closer to the D65 white point.
