JBL Tuner 2 review 2024: easy to use

JBL offers an impressive range of speakers and earphones, catering to various needs and preferences. The JBL Tuner 2 is a good example of a gadget that can be used in many different ways. It is a DAB radio. This compact radio is very useful because it is well-made and can handle rough handling. It even has rubber feet to keep it stable. The Tuner 2 is convenient because it has two types of radio and makes it easy to switch between programs. On the front of the device, next to the grill, JBL put a grayscale screen. It’s here because Tuner 2 allows Digital Audio Broadcasting, which we’ll talk more about later. In the top right part of the screen, it shows what mode it’s in (DAB, FM, or Bluetooth). In the same way, the battery indicator in the top left corner does not show the amount of battery life. Sound Quality

The JBL Tuner 2 has a balanced sound that is both clean and sharp. The 5-watt speaker gets plenty of volume and respectable bass for its size thanks to the JBL Bass Radiator. The speaker’s high-frequency response of 85 Hz-20 kHz allows it to produce a wide variety of sounds, giving them greater depth and energy. The JBL Tuner 2 may connect to your wireless network and features an FM radio with five station presets. That’s an additional option for taking in audio content like songs or headlines.

JBL Tuner 2: Performance

When you switch to Bluetooth mode, it doesn’t work as well. We listened to one of our favorites, All My Life by Foo Fighters, and were disappointed by how weak and lifeless it sounded. Switching to David Bowie’s “Under Pressure” in hopes of getting some clear mids and sparkly highs also didn’t work out the way we wanted.

The music is there, of course, but it’s not nearly as impressive as we know these recordings are capable of being. Even though the bass doesn’t sound muddy, it’s too weak to be heard.

JBL Tuner 2: Battery Life

According to JBL, the battery life of the Tuner 2 can go up to 12 hours. About eight hours of playtime was possible for me when using Bluetooth. This was done with the volume cranked to eleven. The Type-C connector on this speaker allows for a charging current of 1.2A at 5V.

However, an adapter is not included and will need to be purchased separately. My Samsung 10-Watt charger took about 4 hours to fully charge the speaker.

Price and availability

The JBL Tuner 2 wasn’t the newest device available; it was released in 2020. Yet there are times when the old “wireless” is still the finest, and listening to the radio (even DAB radio) is not a novel idea. The JBL Tuner 2 is now available at a slightly reduced price of £79.99 (or AU$169.95).

Final Words

When it comes to music accessories, JBL is a well-known brand, especially in the portable Bluetooth market. In 2018, the company tried to do something new by adding FM radio to its handheld speaker. So, the JBL Tuner FM was made. Even though it didn’t make it to the Nepali market, the Tuner 2 of the second generation did.
