The OLED’s vivid highlights and inky blacks contribute to this. For those who are not familiar, organic light-emitting diode displays, also known as OLEDs, do not need a separate back light in order for the picture to be illuminated.

Because there is no separate back light, OLED technology also lets you make thin, super thin screens. So the CX is basically a big piece of glass that is about a quarter of an inch thick.
The official specs say that it is 1.8 inches thick, which takes into account the part of the panel that holds the ports and audio parts. Around the edge of the screen is a thin, black metal frame that is less than a quarter of an inch thick. The glass itself has a half-inch black border that can be seen.
A standard VESA 300 x 200 bracket can be used to mount the LG CX on the wall. But the wedge-shaped table-top stand that comes with it is a very stable support. It fits on a credenza with a few screws, but it takes two people to stand it up. You can buy this tv from its official wedsite.

The LG OLED65CX is a great screen for gaming. In its Game mode, it only has 13ms of input lag, which is pretty small. And unlike some LCD TVs, switching to the Game preset doesn’t make the colors and contrast look bad. There is support for both automatic switching between low-latency modes and different refresh rates.
The 4K/120Hz/4:4:4/HDR support of the OLED65CX can be used with the PS5, Xbox Series X, and next-generation gaming PCs. As with any OLED TV, you should be careful about what you watch on it so that images don’t get stuck on the screen permanently. Especially, try not to spend too much time at once watching content with bright logos or bright images that stay still.
LG CX OLED TV review: Audio
The new CX Series sounds great in most ways, especially when it comes to volume levels and the size of the soundstage it manages to create despite its incredibly thin body. The sound is wide and even has some height to it, especially if you turn off the default Dolby Atmos sound setting and use LG’s excellent AI Sound Pro option instead.
This mode makes the sound work best with the TV’s speakers. The result is a much more dynamic, loud, and powerful sound. The only problem we had with the audio on the OLED65CX was that a movie soundtrack with a lot of bass can cause the speakers to crackle and cut out. Luckily, there isn’t much content that is extreme enough to cause this problem.

That’s because you can easily get a great TV for much less money that can show the best picture quality from Amazon, Netflix, or Disney+, like 4K resolution and Dolby Vision HDR. Even the best “local” backlighting for darker blacks and quantum dots for brighter colors are part of this. But every year when the first LG OLED comes out, I have to rethink this position based on value.
That’s how great the LG CX (pronounced “C-10”) is. The picture quality is the best in its class, and there are great features for gamers. This is the kind of TV you should save up for. But the company’s 2019 models haven’t changed much, and since they’re cheaper, they might be a better buy.

NVIDIA G-Sync and AMD FreeSync Premium have more VRR technology, which makes PC games less jerky and flickery. The TV also meets the standard for consistent HDR gaming performance set by the HGiG (HDR Gaming Interest Group). The LG CX’s Gaming mode is fast, but when playing The Division 2, there is some flickering.
LG says that the OLED55CX has a lag of 12.7ms. Even though tests only showed 13ms, let’s not pick apart 0.3ms. Since it came out, the CX has become the TV with which the Xbox Series X is meant to be used. Filmmaker Mode and Dolby Vision IQ are new for 2020. In fact, unless you want the new 48-inch model or have a PC with an AMD-powered video card, it makes much more sense to save money and buy an OLED from LG’s 2019 lineup. The CX starts at a lower price than last year’s C9 OLEDs, but you can still get a C9 or B9 OLED for less, and you probably won’t be able to tell the difference.
But when those deals end and the price of the CX goes down a bit, I don’t think it’s a bad idea for a video nerd to buy a CX. It’s a really great TV, and for most people, it’s the best high-end TV. It’s one of the few models that looks much better than what you can get for less than $1,000.
LG CX OLED TV review: Conclusion
The LG CX OLED is a great top-of-the-line TV. It is the second OLED TV from LG, after the LG GX OLED, and it has the same great picture quality as the others. It can turn off individual pixels, which gives it a near-infinite contrast ratio for perfect blacks and no blooming around bright objects.
It has many gaming features, like support for variable refresh rate (VRR), HDMI 2.1 inputs, and a 120Hz panel with a response time that is almost as fast as real time. It also works well in bright places because it handles reflections well, but its SDR brightness is just average.
Burn-in is a problem that can happen to OLEDs if they are constantly exposed to static elements, but we don’t think this will be a problem for most people.
