The Oculus Go headset was the company’s first attempt at standalone virtual reality. However, it wasn’t until the Oculus Quest that it really nailed a truly realistic, cable-free VR experience. Then Facebook bought Oculus, and now they are both part of Meta. The Meta Quest 2, which used to be called the Oculus Quest 2, is similar to its predecessor.
It is better because it has a faster processor, a clearer screen, and a lighter design. It does all of this for $399.99 (after a recent $100 price increase) and is still a lot cheaper than the HTC Vive Cosmos ($699) and the Valve Index ($999). When you add the choice to connect to a computer with an accessory cable, you have a complete and easy-to-use VR system that earns our Editors’ Choice award.

Meta Quest 2: Design

The Quest 2 is easier to use and looks better than the first Oculus Quest. This lets it build on its predecessor while giving it better speed and a higher resolution screen. Even though the Meta Quest 2 has some problems, like controllers that can’t be charged for some reason, it is still the best VR gear for most people. Find out why by reading on. You can buy this VR headset from its official website.
Meta Quest 2: Controls
The four tracking cameras are on the front of the headset, while a USB-C port for charging and a headphone jack are on the right. The start button is on the left, and the volume rocker is at the bottom. The first few times you use the headset, the buttons are a little hard to find, but you’ll get used to where they are.
Games and Apps

The Meta Quest 2 has access to all of the same games and apps as the original headset. If you’re upgrading, all of the software you’ve bought should move over with your identity.
When we reviewed the original Quest in 2019, it had a great set of games, like Beat Saber, Moss, Robo Recall, and Superhot VR. It was fun to play these old favorites again, especially Beat Saber, which has gotten even better with new music packs from bands like Green Day, Imagine Dragons, and Linkin Park.
Meta Quest 2: Performance
Even though the XR2 platform gives a stand-alone VR headset better images than ever before, VR still has a long way to go. The games are great, but they aren’t yet very accurate. It’s kind of like a Nintendo Switch in that it lets you play really fun games, but it doesn’t have the high-powered images that we expect from the PS5 or Xbox Series X. So far, there isn’t a headset with images that are as realistic as they could be. There are other headphones that are better for gaming, like PlayStation VR, but it still needs the PlayStation 4 to work.
Price and availability
The same price as the 256GB Meta Quest 2, the HTC Vive Flow is even more flexible than the Meta Quest 2, even though it’s not made for games. Then there’s the wired PlayStation VR2, which should offer true 4K VR games when it comes out early next year. If Sony can keep the price at $349, like the original PSVR, and you have a PlayStation 5, it might be worth waiting for.
Final Words
The Meta Quest 2 is an excellent all-in-one virtual reality headset that manages to achieve a happy medium between simplicity and effectiveness. Due to increased demand and new alternatives like the Pico 4, it is no longer an excellent value it once was. If you don’t have a supercomputer, but want to experience virtual reality.

FAQS
In short, yes, we think you should buy the Meta Quest 2 if you want to get into the world of virtual reality. This headset is a great way to get started with VR, and it can play a wide range of games.
It’s not as good a deal as it was when it first came out because the price went up and new competitors like the Pico 4 and the PlayStation VR 2 came out. But the Meta Quest 2 is still the best VR headset for the person who doesn’t have a high-powered PC because it has a great library of VR games.
