Meta Quest 2 review 2024: great VR headset

The Oculus Go headset was the company’s first attempt at standalone virtual reality. However, it wasn’t until the Oculus Quest that it really nailed a truly realistic, cable-free VR experience. Then Facebook bought Oculus, and now they are both part of Meta. The Meta Quest 2, which used to be called the Oculus Quest 2, is similar to its predecessor.

It is better because it has a faster processor, a clearer screen, and a lighter design. Meta Quest 2: Controls

The four tracking cameras are on the front of the headset, while a USB-C port for charging and a headphone jack are on the right. The start button is on the left, and the volume rocker is at the bottom. The first few times you use the headset, the buttons are a little hard to find, but you’ll get used to where they are.

Games and Apps

Even though the XR2 platform gives a stand-alone VR headset better images than ever before, VR still has a long way to go. The games are great, but they aren’t yet very accurate. It’s kind of like a Nintendo Switch in that it lets you play really fun games, but it doesn’t have the high-powered images that we expect from the PS5 or Xbox Series X. So far, there isn’t a headset with images that are as realistic as they could be. There are other headphones that are better for gaming, like PlayStation VR, but it still needs the PlayStation 4 to work.

Price and availability

The same price as the 256GB Meta Quest 2, the HTC Vive Flow is even more flexible than the Meta Quest 2, even though it’s not made for games. Then there’s the wired PlayStation VR2, which should offer true 4K VR games when it comes out early next year. If Sony can keep the price at $349, like the original PSVR, and you have a PlayStation 5, it might be worth waiting for.

The Meta Quest 2 is an excellent all-in-one virtual reality headset that manages to achieve a happy medium between simplicity and effectiveness.
