The MSI Cyborg 15 is a budget-friendly gaming laptop that stands out with its distinctive cyborg-inspired design. This laptop, which costs $999, has good hardware, like a 13th Gen Intel Core CPU and an Nvidia RTX 4050 GPU, which make it good for games. It has a 15.6-inch, 144Hz display that makes games smooth and immersive.
Since it was first shown at CES 2023, I’ve been eager to try out the MSI Cyborg 15. After a lot of hands-on testing, I’m happy with how it works and what it can do. Even though the screen might not be the best or thinnest and might be bigger than I like, it’s important to remember that the laptop is cheap. When you think about how well it plays games for less than $1,000, it’s hard to find much to complain about.

Design and Display
The sides and bottom of the MSI Cyborg 15 are see-through, which makes it stand out from other gaming computers. Even the keys for WASD are see-through. It reminds me of old third-party game accessories from the late 1990s and early 2000s, which I like. This gives the laptop a retro-futuristic look without drawing too much attention when you’re using it in public.
The 15.6-inch 1920×1080 FHD IPS panel at 144Hz on the Cyborg 15 looks good, but not great. It isn’t too bright or colorful, but its size lets you see even the smallest features in games and movies. Even though not all games can take advantage of the 144Hz refresh rate, the extra space gives you a smoother experience if you’re playing at 60fps or higher. MSI Cyborg 15: Connectivity
The USB Type-A 3.2 port and 3.5mm combination jack can be found on the left side of the Cyborg 15. The charging DC-in connector, HDMI 2.1, and two USB Type-A 3.2 ports are on the right side, while the USB Type-C 3.2 Gen1 port supports DisplayPort 1.4.
The DC-in port may seem out of place on the right side of the laptop, but the inclusion of a full-sized ethernet connector justifies the placement. However, MSI’s WiFi6 technology has you covered if you’d rather not use a LAN cable with your laptop.
Keyboard and Touchpad
The Cyborg 15’s illuminated, spacious keyboard is one of its nicest features. The keys are substantial, and they provide a satisfying level of resistance when pressed. The keys moved so far that we could type almost as quickly as I do on a mechanical keyboard.
People interested in such things may be dissatisfied to learn that the keyboard lacks RGB lighting choices. I’m not, therefore the keyboard’s blue illumination didn’t bother me. The touchpad is typically small on gaming laptops.
MSI Cyborg 15: Battery Life
Even though it’s not a real laptop, the MSI Cyborg 15 looks like a laptop. In your comment, you said that the MSI Cyborg 15 lasted 5 hours and 5 minutes on Tom’s Guide’s battery test. This is a good battery life for a gaming laptop, since they tend to use more power.
You also said that the Nitro 5 lasted 5 hours and 33 minutes, while the Bravo 15 lasted 6 hours and 20 minutes. In terms of battery life, it looks like both the Nitro 5 and the Bravo 15 did better than the MSI Cyborg 15 in the same test.

FAQS
Our Verdict. The MSI Cyborg 15 is quiet and cool, but it doesn’t have the power you’d expect from a game laptop with an RTX 4060 GPU. Software that is hard to use and can’t be updated make this machine hard to sell at a reasonable price.
Tom’s Guide Verdict. The MSI Cyborg 15 is a gaming laptop that looks like cyberpunk and has great performance at a reasonable price. Even though its RTX 4050 GPU isn’t the most powerful, this is a great machine for people who are just getting started with PC games or are on a tight budget.
