NZXT Canvas 27F review 2024: great gaming monitor

The best gaming monitors on the market have a lot of bells and whistles and also work well. But sometimes it’s best to keep things straightforward. After all, how much tweaking do you want to do once the picture is the way you want it? When a display is fast, responds quickly, and shows good images right out of the box, what else do you really need? If you agree, there are great deals out there for you.

NZXT is a well-known maker of computer accessories. It recently started making monitors with its Canvas line. We recently looked at the Canvas 32Q QHD/165 Hz panel and found that it had everything we needed for a great gaming experience at a great price, with no extras to make things more complicated. NZXT’s first Canvas-line of gaming displays came out in the summer. It included two QHD monitors with different looks that were made to match the look of different gamers’ setups. About two months later, NZXT has released two FHD Canvas displays with the same design and a focus on high refresh rate gaming.

eSports players will be interested in these 240hz 1080p displays because they come with stands that match their black or white backplates and come in sizes of 25″ and 27″. NZXT Canvas 27F review: Features

The Canvas 27F’s OSD only has five submenus, which you can access by pressing the joystick in the back. It’s all text and very well organized, but we found one strange thing: the sliders don’t have numbers on them. So, if you want to save settings for later use, you’ll have to count clicks. The Canvas 27F has eight picture modes.

Each one uses a different mix of gamma and brightness to make it better for a certain task. We tested and played games with Standard, which is the default setting. It’s pretty accurate right out of the box; my calibration didn’t make much of a difference. Even so, the Image menu has colour temperature presets, a custom setting, gamma options, colour saturation sliders, and a black equaliser.

If you have trouble seeing in the dark, you can use the last one to make shadow details stand out. This menu also has options for playing games, such as three overdrive settings, a frame counter, and MPRT. Like most gaming monitors, MPRT has a backlight strobe that cancels out Adaptive-Sync. It sounds better than most examples I’ve tried because there aren’t many phasing artefacts.

We got a white NZXT Canvas 27F, and the optional Monitor Stand came with it. Once it’s all put together, the bezels are about as thin as any other IPS monitor in this price range. On the back of the screen, there is a small control knob that can also be used as an on/off button. We have two HDMI ports, one DisplayPort, one USB-C port, two USB-A ports, and one USB-B port.

Since the Canvas 27F is VESA DisplayHDR 400 certified, it can reach a maximum brightness of about 400 nits. The AMD Freesync Premium is perfect for gaming PCs with AMD graphics cards because it syncs the two so that gameplay is smooth as butter. And because this is NZXT, NZXT CAM is fully supported.

There are a lot of gaming monitors that work well and have a long list of features. If you don’t need things like built-in speakers, LED lighting, or aiming points, you can get a good deal on a monitor without sacrificing speed or image quality.

One great example of this is the NZXT Canvas 27F. Already, the 240 Hz FHD category is a great deal in terms of performance, and many monitors offer great value. Even though there aren’t that many pixels, the motion resolution is very high because the frames per second are so fast. When the action moves at 200 fps or faster, you’ll never see blur or pause.
