The speaker‘s sound output is described as a balanced presentation and punchy bass, thanks to the new Class D amplifier and 5-inch woofer present in each unit. High frequencies are transmitted with greater clarity, an improvement that is due to the “new advanced design” of the DECO convex diffusers. The speaker design, with its curved front edges, also aims to offer maximum rigidity and minimum resonance for cleaner audio output.
Aiming to be easy to set up, tune and use, the DM-50D is said to be “ideal” for a variety of purposes, whether DJ-ing, music production or using them for parties. There is a switch that changes the speaker from DJ mode to Production mode if you want to focus on creating music; the DSP settings automatically adapt to create the best sound for each application.

Pioneer DM-50D review: Design
The left speaker enclosure is about 10.3 inches tall, 6.9 inches wide, and 10.2 inches deep. It weighs 8.6 pounds. The right speaker is slightly smaller and lighter, measuring 10.3 by 6.9 by 9.7 inches and weighing 7.7 pounds. It doesn’t have the volume knob or most of the wired connections that the left monitor does.
The front panels of both monitors that hold the drivers are slightly curved. The sides and back are made of smooth MDF vinyl laminate. The sides have a slightly textured, semi-matte finish, and the back is smooth and matte. The monitors are sold in either black or white by Pioneer. You can buy this speaker from its official website
Pioneer DM-50D review: Sound quality
Pioneer has taken the design of the entry-level DM-40, which was already good, and turned it up a notch. This new pair of studio monitors, the DM-50D, does a great job with sound.
By far, the most impressive part is the low end. The 5-inch woofer has a lot of power while still being clear. Even at higher volumes, the lows are played back without any distortion. It’s full and meaty without being muddy. In DJ mode, you can hear that the low end gets more attention.
Pioneer DM-50D review: Inputs
The Pioneer DM-50D also does a better job of connecting. You’ll have access to an RCA input that is not balanced. A good choice for many DJ controllers that are meant for beginners. Balanced 1/4-inch TRS input is also available for more professional gear.
Even though this is better than the DM-40, the DM-50D doesn’t have any other ways to connect. Bluetooth is missing, which is something that some similar speakers have. It makes sense when you think about who these speakers are for. Bluetooth adds latency, which is the last thing you want when you’re DJing or making music.
Final Words
The maker gives you a well-rounded package with great craftsmanship, a stylish design, and powerful sound. The 2-way bass reflex active monitor speakers are also good for PC and notebook use because they are small and have a variety of ways to connect. But because of the use, fancy extras like Bluetooth connectivity, equalizers, and other controllers have to be left out.
Pioneer’s DM-40BT at least has Bluetooth, but it doesn’t sound as good as the 50D and, for example, can only cover a much smaller range of frequencies. The main things that need to be fixed are the abrupt S sounds in the trebles and the fact that the adjustable sound mode doesn’t show any differences in sound.
