When we were forced to give back the Razer Nommo Pro review unit that we had borrowed for evaluation purposes, it kind of broke my heart. These speakers were genuinely wonderful, and while there have been amazing releases since then, very few have been able to surpass them in terms of popularity. In point of fact, they left such enormous shoes to fill that we were beginning to fear that Razer wasn’t going to follow up with a new model after they released the last one.
Fortunately, you can always count on Razer to be seeking to outdo itself, and that is exactly what it has done with the Razer Nommo V2 Pro. The Razer Nommo V2 Pro features a streamlined design and improved audio quality. We didn’t believe it was possible, but this sequel to Razer’s best PC speakers to date is even better than the OG. It has a better sound, is more powerful, and provides a more immersive experience while taking up a little bit less room on your desk.

Design and Build Quality
The “aesthetic” of Razer’s goods has always been important to the company, and the Nommo V2 Pro are no exception. Although they aren’t flashy in any way, they give the impression of being a decidedly contemporary update on traditional desktop or bookshelf speakers.
Each speaker contains a full-range 3.2-inch driver that is fitted with aluminium phase plugs. Razer claims that these plugs help to eliminate sound reflections within the speaker, which ultimately results in music that is more clear. Razer claims that at maximum power, the sound they produce is comparable to that of a train pulling up to a subway platform. They are capable of producing an exceptionally loud volume.
Razer Nommo V2 Pro: Set up
Therefore, the first thing to do is to connect each of the wires. One speaker serves as a connection point between the other speaker and your personal computer (PC). A MIDI port is included for the speaker in addition to connections for converting USB Type-C to USB Type-A for the personal computer. Because the subwoofer establishes the connection wirelessly, all that is required of you is to plug it into a power outlet. It is important to remember that the speakers require electricity from an outlet as well, thus this system requires a total of two outlets.
Razer Nommo V2 Pro: Audio Quality
The Nommo V2 Pro not only look great, but also produce an excellent sound. The default profile leans heavily toward the bass end of the frequency spectrum, but after some fiddling around in Razer Synapse, we were able to tune them to a point where we were satisfied.
The midrange and bass are where the Nommo V2 Pro really shines, creating a warm and engaging sound. However, they sound really beautiful and are likely to please the vast majority of listeners despite their lack of clarity and muddy highs. They are also lacking in the high and upper midrange, but most listeners probably won’t notice.
Razer Nommo V2 Pro: Software
The original Nommo was effective but cumbersome due to its wired subwoofer and wired control pod in addition to optical out; the newer Nommo V2 Pro, on the other hand, is simple to set up.
A braided cable links the two drivers together, and the right speaker accepts power and provides a USB Type-C (to Type A) output for use with a computer. The V2 Pro additionally benefits from a wireless subwoofer, which eliminates the need for additional connections and allows the subwoofer to be placed wherever in the room. However, the subwoofer is equipped with an AC adapter micro plug because it does require electricity.
Price and Availability
Overall, the Razer Nommo V2 Pro has blown away my expectations of what a set of desktop 2.1 PC game speakers could do in terms of sound quality and immersion. However, they cost $699.95, which is about what I expected to pay. It’s a big drop from the previous Nommo Pro, which cost up to $900, but it’s still a big purchase that might make some people think twice.
Final Words
The Nommo V2 Pro speakers are the best speakers that Razer has ever made. They aren’t perfect, but they are the best example of what the company can do with its relationship with THX to make a truly amazing virtual surround sound experience that focuses on powerful bass and a warm, approachable sound profile. On top of that, they look good and have RGB built in. They are very “gamer” and will surely be famous. At $450, they aren’t cheap, but for PC users, they work well enough to be worth that price.
