The Samsung Galaxy Book 3 Ultra, which starts at $2,199, is not the first Samsung laptop with the Ultra name. It’s a straight response to the MacBook Pro 16-inch (2024) from the company. Samsung’s laptop seems to have what it takes to compete with Apple’s strong high-end laptop. It has a 16-inch OLED screen, an Intel 13th Gen Core CPU, and an Nvidia RTX 40-series GPU. The Galaxy Book 3 Ultra has a lot to give, even without comparisons. Because of its powerful features, you can use it to edit videos and play the best PC games. In fact, this is one of the best laptops for games that we’ve tried. With the ability to work with Samsung phones and tablets, this could be a great laptop for people who already use Samsung products.

Samsung Galaxy Book 3: Design

The Samsung Galaxy Book 3 Ultra is what would happen if Tom Hanks and the Samsung Galaxy Book 3 Pro went to the Zoltar machine and wished to be “Big.” It has the same wedge shape and recycled aluminium construction as its siblings, which gives it a look that is clearly high-end.
It is still very thin and light for having a separate GPU, 76Wh battery, and four AKG speakers, but it doesn’t feel quite as “Did they forget to put the laptop parts in here?” as the Book 3 Pro or Samsung Galaxy Book 3 Pro 360.
Samsung Galaxy Book 3: Display
The Samsung Galaxy Book3 Ultra is a portable device that is a total stunner. It has great specs and a beautiful screen, all in a sleek and sexy package. Even though we often wish these laptop lines had more colour, the Book3 Ultra is one of the few that does. It feels heavier than the Samsung Galaxy Book3 Pro or Pro 360, but at 0.65 inches thick and less than four pounds, it’s still very light and thin for a 16-inch screen. You can buy this laptop from its offcicial website
Keyboard and Touchboard

Samsung’s display ratio of 1.6:1 lets it have a large keyboard with a small number pad on the right. If you’re right-handed, this could be helpful. As a left-handed person, the number pad is the same as the WASD keys for right-handed people, so any laptop that can be used for games gets a plus in that way. Since most of Samsung’s Book3 line comes in 16-inch sizes, I would guess that any device you buy from this family will have the same keyboard and should be just as useful.
As we said in my Book3 Pro 360 review, the key travel on Samsung’s chiclet keyboards is often shallower than I’d like. This makes me wonder if they’ll be useful. Even though we were not sure if I’d like to wear them all the time, they’re comfortable enough. Keyboards have gotten shallower over time, though, because makers prefer to make systems that are thinner and have less room for deep key travel.
Samsung Galaxy Book 3: Sound quality
While we weren’t able to put the Galaxy Book 3 Ultra’s audio capabilities through their paces, we imagine that you and your callers will have no trouble hearing one another. The four speakers, according to Samsung, produce “clear high notes and a rich bass sound.”
As someone who finds most computers’ bass to be unsatisfactory, the last sentence is of particular interest to me. The microphones on the laptop supposedly employ AI to filter out noise so that they can only pick up your voice. Having this capability, which is standard on most new computers, should streamline your conferencing experiences with others.
Samsung Galaxy Book 3: Performance
The Galaxy Book 3 Ultra has been great to use on a daily basis. My normal workflow involves three desktops: one with Slack, Microsoft Outlook, and some way to play media, another with a content management system and all the tabs we need for research, and the third with either Adobe Photoshop or Premiere Pro for editing. Then there are video calls every now and then.
Price and availability
At the time this was written, there was a laptop deal in the US for the Samsung Galaxy Book3 Ultra that dropped the prices to $1,799.99 for the base model and $2,399.99 for the best version.
But the normal price for the base model, which is also the review unit I got, is $2,399.99 (£2,649 or about AU$4,875), which includes the Core i7-13700H CPU and RTX 4050 GPU. If you want the updated version with the Intel Core i9-13900H CPU and the Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 GPU, it will cost you $2,999.99.
Final Words
Even though we have only had the Samsung Galaxy Book 3 Ultra for a short time, we can already tell that it could be the best laptop Samsung has ever made. It looks like a clear winner, especially for people who are already part of Samsung’s environment. It has a beautiful 16-inch screen, an elegant design, and powerful parts.

It looks like they just took their computers to the next level, too. The Samsung Galaxy Book 2 has a 15.6-inch Full High Definition (FHD) Super AMOLED screen. You can also see the most recent Intel Core i5 12th Gen chipsets. The 256GB SSD and 8GB of RAM that go with this CPU make it even more powerful.
