True wireless earbuds are so popular now that you can go to the websites of many well-known headphone brands and choose from several models at different price points. Sony, Bose, and JBL, to name a few, all have at least a couple of pairs. But, like Apple, Sennheiser has only two models.
The high-end, noise-cancelling Momentum True Wireless 2 and the cheaper, non-noise-cancelling CX 400BT that we are testing here. Sennheiser would probably say that quality is more important than quantity. The CX 400BT may not have the coolest name, the most stylish design, or the most features, but they sound better than most headphones at this level.

Sennheiser CX 400BT review: Design
Touch controls can be hit or miss with earbuds, but the CX 400BT’s touch panels have a large, flat surface area that makes them easy and reliable to use. The design of the Sennheiser is more practical than pretty, but that’s more of a comment than a complaint.
Also, who can argue against designs that work. Their oval housings need a push and twist motion to fit nicely in the ears. This is more of a gentle nudge than a forceful one. Once in place, they are comfortably light (6g each) and don’t get in the way. You can get this earbuds from its from its official website.
Sennheiser CX 400BT review: Comfort
The Sennheiser CX 400BT has four pairs of silicone eartips that can be switched out: extra-small, small, medium, and large. The medium tips that were already in place were a little too big for my small ears, but the small ones fit perfectly.
The CX 400BT headphones are held in place with a simple push-and-twist method, but they stayed in place even when we were jogging, doing jumping jacks, and, yes, headbanging while practising bass guitar.
Sennheiser CX 400BT review: Connection
The Bluetooth 5.1 in the buds made the wireless connection pretty solid, and they did a good job of blocking out background noise when I was on the phone (these have noise reduction but not active noise cancelling like the Momentum True Wireless II). People we talked to said that when you talk a little while making calls, outside sounds come in. These aren’t as good as the best earbuds for making calls.
Sennheiser CX 400BT review: Sound quality
When it came out, the Sennheiser CX 400BT cost $200, and the sound quality has been praised all over the web. Since the price has been cut in half, it must be a great deal, right? Well, the Sennheiser is now in 2021, which is a different place. The great Samsung Galaxy Buds Plus are now even cheaper, and for the same price, the Soundcore Liberty Air 2 Pro has great active noise cancellation.
Sennheiser CX 400BT review: Battery Life
The battery case is small and has a flip-top. It’s not as small as the AirPods Pro case, but it’s as small as it can be while still fitting the earpieces. On the back, there is a USB-C port for the cable that comes with the case and a button that shows the battery life of the case on the nearby LED.
Final Words
Sennheiser CX 400BT are good for travelling and commuting. They are pretty comfortable and easy to carry, but they don’t do a good job of blocking out bass-heavy sounds like bus or plane engines. Their continuous battery life of about five hours may not be long enough for a long flight. Still, they are well-made, and the carrying case gives you about two more charges.

FAQs
Does Sennheiser CX 400BT have ANC?
For instance, the CX 400BT do not have any kind of IP rating, and they do not have any kind of active noise cancellation either.
Is Sennheiser CX 400BT waterproof?
You are able to undertake light workouts while wearing these, but in contrast to the Momentum True Wireless II, they do not offer any rating for their resistance to water or perspiration; therefore, we would not trust them to stay in my ears when jogging.
Is ANC just white noise?
People frequently get sound masking (sometimes known as “white noise”) and sound cancellation mixed up. This is a widespread misunderstanding because they are not the same thing at all. When we talk to clients, they frequently consider sound masking to be something similar to the “Cone of Silence” from the classic Get Smart television series.
