With the Gold S31 SATA SSD, which came out in 2019, SK Hynix got into the consumer storage market. The next one was the Gold P31 PCIe 3.0 SSD, which we still have in my gaming PC. SK Hynix has just released the Platinum P41 PCIe 4.0 SSD as a rival to some of the already popular PCIe 4.0 SSDs from Crucial, Samsung, XPG, and Kingston.
SK Hynix has always tried to find a good balance between price and performance, and their high TBW grade shows how durable their products are. Does the Platinum P41 carry on this trend. We did a bunch of tests on the SSD to see how it stacks up and, eventually, if it’s worth your money.

SK Hynix Platinum P41 review: Design and Features
With its sleek black-and-purple color scheme and low-profile sticker covering the new Aries controller and 176-layer NAND flash memory, the SK Hynix Platinum P41 is a beautiful and well-made storage drive. The drive feels like a high-end product when you hold it, and the process of installing it in your gaming PC is as easy as plug and play.
The SK Hynix Platinum P41 is a high-performance NVMe solid-state drive (SSD) made for gaming PCs and high-end workstations. The drive’s 4-channel controller and PCIe 4.0 interface give it excellent read and write speeds of up to 3,500MB/s and 3,200MB/s, respectively. The Platinum P41 comes in sizes from 500GB to 2TB and uses SK Hynix’s “Cepheus” controller technology, which helps improve speed and reliability. You can buy this from its official website
SK Hynix Platinum P41: Performance
The SK Hynix Platinum P41 works very well. In my tests, the numbers were very close to what the company said they would be. The maker says that the 2TB version can read at up to 7000 MB/s and write at up to 6500 MB/s. This would make this drive one of the best all-arounders to date.
CrystalDiskMark reported read speeds of 6549.75 MB/s, which is very good. We didn’t think the sequential performance was quite up to 7000 MB/s, though. We got write rates of 6164.07, which are very close to the top of what the form factor can do. This is confirmed by Anvil Pro, which gives this drive a total score of 23,121.18, which means it can handle data going both ways.
Price and availability
The Platinum P41 was sent to Windows Central for study by SK Hynix. It is a PCIe 4.0×4 NVMe SSD that comes in sizes of 500GB, 1TB, and 2TB. I’m looking at the 2TB version.
About $105 will get you the 500GB version, $150 will get you the 1TB version, and $260 will get you the 2TB version. The SSD is easy to get from Amazon. It does not have a fan built in.
Final words
The SK hynix Platinum P41 lives up to its name by surpassing all others in terms of both its performance and its power efficiency. It is the best consumer PCIe 4.0 SSD that we have evaluated to this point, demonstrating that an already successful recipe can be improved upon.

faqs
Since the Platinum P41 doesn’t come with a fan, we used the one on our SSD testbed to test it. For longer life, you might want to add a heatsink. If you want to use the P41 with a laptop or PlayStation 5, get a small one.
The Platinum P41 has read and write speeds of up to 7,000MB/s and 6,500MB/s, which are very fast. SK Hynix has been good at getting around memory speed limits for a long time. They have now made the next generation of PCIe 4.0 SSD speed.
