The new Archer AX11000 from TP-Link stands out because it’s one of the biggest routers we’ve tested in recent years. TP-Link Archer AX11000 review: Design and Features
The AX11000 is clearly a gaming router, what with its black textured cabinet and red accentuated antennas. With dimensions of 7.2 by 11.3 by 11.3 inches (HWD), it’s significantly larger than the Asus RT-AC5300 gaming router’s 2.62 by 9.6 by 9.6 inches.
It has an LED status indicator that flashes white when everything is well, red when the router loses Internet access, and orange when Wi-Fi is off, and it comes with eight high-performance antennae that can be removed but are not adjustable. The only true drawback to this wireless router, despite its sleek design, is the amount of space it will require in your home or office. You can buy this router from its official website.
TP-Link Archer AX11000 review: Setup
The AX11000’s router configuration is one of its many strengths. The eight antennas clicked into place when they were finally connected. We like that setting things up can be done using a mobile device or, better yet, a computer and a web browser. The second method required only a short amount of time and allowed us to set our own Wi-Fi password in addition to creating two distinct networks at 2.4 and 5 GHz.
TP-Link Archer AX11000 review: Performance
This Wi-Fi 6 monster has some powerful components under the hood. The AX11000 is equipped with a quad-core processor and 1GB of RAM, making it capable of handling even the most demanding workloads. Its router’s CPU and overall processing capabilities surpass those of many computers from a decade ago, ensuring seamless performance even when a large number of devices are simultaneously accessing the network.
TP-Link Archer AX11000 review: Security
From a security point of view, the AX11000 is good, but not the best consumer router on the market. It starts with support for the most recent encryption for wireless networks. The AX11000 does work with WPA3, and it is also compatible with the older standards.
As you can see in the screenshot above, the AX11000 comes with some antivirus protection. We like that it is included out of the box and doesn’t require a separate subscription. It also uses a Trend Micro-powered security database that gets updated.
TP-Link Archer AX11000 review: Pricing
The AX11000’s price is a problem. Even though this router came out in 2019, the price on many sites is more than $400. You might be able to find it for a little bit less, since the TP-Link site links to Costco. But then Costco hides the price so that only members can see it. Still, a router that costs $400 or more is a lot. There are gaming routers that cost more.
Final Words
The Archer AX11000 is the best in its class because it has a tri-band radio, fast Wi-Fi speeds, a long range with a strong signal, and good NAS capabilities if that’s your thing. a user interface that looks like a game, has a lot of administration options.
