Over the past few years, the average person probably hasn’t had much need for a Bluetooth speaker like the Tronsmart Bang. A speaker in the style of a boombox that is able to provide a raucous and exciting soundtrack to any event suddenly seems to have a great deal more allure now that the world has once again opened up for us and we are free to mingle as we see fit.
The battery life of the Tronsmart Bang may not be sufficient to last through an entire weekend trip, but what it lacks in endurance it makes up for in raw power and value for the money. The Bang is an excellent choice for you if you are looking for a Bluetooth speaker that is not only cheap but also packs a lot of punch.

Tronsmart Bang: Design
The logo for Tronsmart is great. It looks like it was made for a Silicon Valley start-up in the 1980s. On the front, there is a badge with the name and image in silver. These are also printed on the handle’s top. If you are old enough to remember a time before computer-aided design, the Tronsmart logo might remind you of when companies used Letraset transfer lettering to name themselves.
The retro feel goes all the way to the speaker itself, which has a cigar-shaped body with a flat bottom and a curved handle. The cylinder has a cloth screen on it, which at first glance makes it look like the Bang is a 360-degree mono Bluetooth speaker. But that’s not the case here. Tronsmart has made a real stereo speaker, and half of the cloth covering is just for looks. You can buy this speaker from its official website
Sound and controls
The Bang’s default EQ puts mids and highs in the front and centre, which works well for pop songs with a lot of vocals. You can’t make your own EQ, but the Tronsmart app has a good number of presets, and each of them changes the Bang’s sound in a noticeable way.
The most interesting of these is “Sound Pulse,” which uses Tronsmart’s patented “Sound Pulse” technology to reduce distortion, boost bass, and help spread sound for a bigger stereo soundstage. We thought the mode worked pretty well, and there was definitely a bigger sense of space.
Tronsmart Bang: Battery Life
There are a lot of great Bluetooth speakers available at different price points. The more expensive JBL Boombox 2 is a good match for the simple Tronsmart Bang speaker. You get a grade of IPX7 instead of IPX6 like on the Tronsmart, a battery life of 24 hours instead of 15, and a newer Bluetooth 5.1 module instead of Bluetooth 5.0. JBL is known for making great sound systems, and the Boombox 2 is no exception. But it costs almost five times as much as the Bang, has no lights, and can’t play music from SD cards or USB drives.
Price and availability
Tronsmart told the world about the Bang outdoor speaker. At the moment, you can buy it in most countries on Geekbuying or AliExpress. There will soon be an Amazon US launch, but no exact date has been set yet. Based on how things have worked in the past, it’s possible that the Tronsmart Bang will be on Amazon by April. The Tronsmart Bang only comes in black, and that’s the only colour it comes in. The Bluetooth speaker can be bought for $110 on all sites where it is sold.
Final Words
The Tronsmart Bang is a portable, tough speaker that is easy to suggest to people who want big sound at a reasonable price. Even at its list price, it’s a lot cheaper than the similar-looking JBL Boombox 2 and JBL Xtreme 2.
The Bang doesn’t have the same level of build quality or bass reproduction, and the LED lights can be too much, but it can play good sound at loud settings and project sound well both inside and out.
