The Vivo X Fold, which was released in 2018, shown that it is possible to get a foldable phone that offers a photography experience comparable to that of a flagship model, in addition to simply providing a superior overall hardware experience. After a year has passed, we have now had the opportunity to evaluate the Vivo X Fold 2 in order to determine whether the company has been able to maintain its position of leadership in the ever-evolving sector of the market.
Foldable smartphones are here to stay, despite the fact that most people still perceive them to be a “niche” product, as if this wasn’t already abundantly clear. Aside from the market in North America, the most impressive foldable smartphones are not only produced by Samsung but also by other manufacturers such as Xiaomi, Honor, and Vivo, amongst others.
Vivo X Fold 2 Specifications
In this day and age, if you want to be considered seriously, you absolutely must have either a foldable smartphone in the style of a flip phone or a normal foldable smartphone in your portfolio. And you can find them both on vivo.

Vivo X Fold 2: Design

One more thing that is made possible by this hinge is the capability of bringing the X Fold 2 all the way to a shut position. This may result in complications in the case that some dirt or debris becomes lodged in between, but I haven’t had any of those complications, and the screen is still in excellent condition. When the device is folded up, despite its weight, it more closely resembles a Galaxy S23 Ultra that has been supercharged than it does a foldable phone.
The “Red” model of the X Fold 2 is the one I’ve been using, and its finish is the same “textured leather” as that of the first-generation X Fold. There is a lovely glossy accent piece that runs the length of the phone, and Vivo even provides a back cover in the package that has the same appearance and feel as the original while also providing a degree of protection for your phone.
Vivo X Fold 2: Display
The display of the vivo X Fold 2 has an inner screen that is 8.03 inches and an outer screen that measures 6.53 inches. Both screens are constructed of E6 panels from Samsung and have a resolution of 2K+, support HDR and Dolby vision, and can refresh at up to 120 frames per second. The main difference between the two displays, in addition to the disparity in size and resolution, is that the brightness of the inner display may be increased to up to 1800 nits over a portion of its surface, which is a little higher value than that of the outer display.
Both of them are equipped with a cutout on the top for a selfie camera, which is an excellent feature. Regardless matter how the device is folded, users can still take selfies with it. The crease that runs down the center of the inner screen is now less noticeable as a result of the new hinge, although it can still be seen if you turn the device so that you are looking at it from the side.
Vivo X Fold 2: Cameras

The back of the Vivo X Fold 2 has three cameras: a 12MP ultrawide sensor, a 50MP main sensor with optical image stabilization (OIS), and a 12MP selfie sensor. The phone’s front-facing camera has a 16MP lens. One of the best sensors for a smartphone, the Samsung GN5 is the main sensor. It has a big 1/1.57-inch sensor and a fast f/1.75 aperture.
This lets it take pictures with a wide range of tones and little noise because it can take in a lot of light. The OIS helps keep pictures sharp even when there isn’t much light. The ultrawide camera has a field of view of 120 degrees and a resolution of 12MP. This lets you take shots that are wider, which is great for landscapes or groups of people. The 12-megapixel portrait camera has an aperture of f/1.98.
Vivo X Fold 2: Performance
The X Fold2 runs an operating system developed by Vivo called OriginOS 3, which is based on Android 13 and is packed with a wide variety of functions. Because it is designed to have a foldable form factor, the user interface may switch between the display on the cover and the display in the enlarged tablet mode with ease. A Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor with an octa-core central processing unit (CPU) that provides remarkable performance is used to power the gadget. The X Fold2’s 12 gigabytes of random access memory (RAM) and its quick UFS 4.0 storage should allow for seamless multitasking and lightning-fast app launches.
Vivo X Fold 2: Battery and Connectivity
The X Fold 2 has a 5,000mAh battery, so it can last all day with mixed use even when folded. Our device performed admirably in PC Mark’s Work 3.0 Battery Test, lasting 17 hours and 20 minutes when folded and 12 hours and 19 minutes when opened. You may get a full charge in just 30 minutes thanks to the 120W rapid charging capabilities. The X Fold 2 has a very useful reverse wireless charging feature that can supply 10W to a device.
Final Words
The Vivo X Fold 2 is an assured foldable that boasts powerful performance, outstanding battery life, and a competent camera. The situation is not ideal. Although the leather coating makes the foldable look more expensive and premium than it actually is. Since it’s only available in China, you’ll have to put up with certain minor annoyances in terms of performance, such as those related to background apps or the unexplained failure of the ultrawide camera in low light, among other things.
Vivo X Fold 2 review: The good and The bad
The Vivo X Fold 2 is a fantastic folding phone, but it is unfortunately only available in China at this time. The specifications are excellent across the board, especially with regard to the camera.
The Good
- Brilliant main camera
- Excellent fast charging
The Bad
- Thick and heavy
Questions and Answers
The X Fold2’s 4,800 mAh battery is a little bigger than its predecessor’s, and it’s also a little bigger than the average battery for a folding phone. But the battery life is pretty good. Even though the total endurance number is only 96h, this is mostly because the standby time is so short.
The Z Fold2 is still the best tablet-style folding phone you can buy right now. Even though it might not have the most up-to-date features for 2021, it has the best design, display, and software, making it the best folded phone.
