How to always open MS Edge in InPrivate mode

Windows will have a desktop shortcut for the Edge browser by default. If you deleted the shortcut, you first need to create a desktop shortcut for the Edge app. If you already have a desktop shortcut, you can skip the next step.

To create a desktop shortcut, launch File Explorer by pressing “Win ​​+ E” keys and go to the C:Program Files (x86)MicrosoftEdgeApplication folder. Right-click the msedge executable application file (.exe) and select “Show more options”. Now you will see the legacy context menu and click on the option “Send to > Desktop (create shortcut)”. This will add a desktop shortcut to the Microsoft Edge browser.

And it should look like below in the properties dialog.

Click “Apply” button, you will be prompted for administrator credentials to make this change. If you are already logged in as an administrator, confirm the prompt to continue.

Now, close the properties dialog and double-click the desktop shortcut to launch the Edge browser.

You will see that the browser by default will open in InPrivate browsing mode.
