How to type with your voice on Android – Guide

Gboard is a virtual typing app developed for Android and iOS. Although it is the default keyboard on many devices, it can also be installed. Gboard combines the modern mobile keyboard with google fun and useful features. Gboard has a variety of features that facilitate communication in a mobile screen and with a smaller keyboard. It has standard tools like Google search and a predictive type engine, but it also supports 900+ languages and a floating keyboard.

How to type with your voice on android

First, make sure you download and install Gboard from the Google Play Store and set it up up as the default keyboard on your Android smartphone or tablet.

voice typing feature should be enabled from the start, but let’s double check to be sure. Enter a text box to bring up the keyboard and tap the gear icon.

Then select “Voice Typing” from the Settings menu.

Make sure the toggle at the top of the screen is turned on.

With that out of the way, we can use voice typing feature. Enter a text box again to bring up up the keyboard. Tap the microphone icon to start dictating a message.

If this is your first time using the feature, you will be asked to grant Gboard permission to record audio. Give permission to continue by tapping the “While using the app” button button.

Gboard will start listening and you will be able to say what you would like to “type”. Tap the microphone again to stop.
