These are simple “if-then” commands that can be used to automate Samsung phones based on location, app actions, time of day and various other conditions. If you’ve just discovered them, here are some of the cool things you can do with Bixby Routines.

Bixby routines were introduced with the Galaxy S10 and didn’t attract much attention at the time, probably because it was a bit mechanical and required a lot of manual settings rather than something that happens automatically and intelligently. However, who owns a Samsung Galaxy phone generation should try out Bixby routines, chances are you’ll find something useful for you.

How to automate Bixby routines with Samsung Galaxy phone

  • Go to the Settings app on your Samsung phone and tap Advanced Features.
  • Search for Bixby Routines and activate it. On most devices, it is enabled by default.
  • Tap the Bixby Routines text (not the toggle button) in the same menu and you will see the following screen.
  • Samsung has already included a set of placeholder routines centered around common daily tasks like getting to work, going to bed, waking up. up in the morning, &c. Tapping one of them will allow you to further customize the routine in question. For example, in the screenshot below, you can trigger your phone to mute all notifications, turn on Night Mode and dim the screen before going to bed.
  • To edit an existing routine, simply tap on the element you need to change under the ‘if’ or ‘then’ tap. You will be taken to the next screen where you can add or remove tasks as you see fit.
  • If you want to create a routine from scratch, tap the plus sign button in the upper right corner of the main menu. You will be taken to the following screen where you can start.
