How to Add Extra Sound Packages into GarageBand on iPhone/iPad – Guide

In a press release today, Apple announced that it is expanding GarageBand for iPhone and iPad with new “Sound Packs” from some of the biggest artists and producers in the world. With these new sound packs, GarageBand users can learn how to remix and create music with the help of artists like Dua Lipa and Lady Gaga.

The GarageBand expansion includes new Remix Sessions, Producer Packs and Sound Packs from top artists and producers. GarageBand users can use these sound packs, instruments, beats, and loops to create their own tracks, remix songs, and more.

How to Add extra sound packs to GarageBand on iPhone/iPad

To find downloadable instrument and sound packs, you must first access the sound library.

To do this, open the GarageBand app and press Create a song. Once here, you will see a screen where you can choose between Live Loops and Tracks. You will also see an option called Sound Library. Tap here to open it.

When the sound library is open, you will see all sound packs available for download. To download a pack, tap the pack and tap To Own.

The package will then begin to download.

To open a downloaded package or instrument, tap the add icon at the far left of your GarageBand workspace.

Then choose to add a loop or an instrument. If you downloaded a sound pack, select Buckle.

Once selected, you will see a drop-down menu of all loops that are on your device. Below the loop names you will see the name of the sound pack it belongs to.

To search for loops from a specific sound pack, tap Filtered pair and choose the desired sound kit.

To open a downloaded instrument, press the add (+) icon on the left and select Instrument. This will open a menu of all your instruments.

At the top, you will see a bar that selects the keyboard type. Tap on it to open all available options.

Once opened, you can select your downloaded custom instruments. On the right side you will see which soundset it belongs to.

Then just start playing and enjoy your custom sounds.
