Student games are my favorite for two reasons. They are typically free proof-of-concepts that are really cool.
As an illustration, consider Witchpunk, a free game created by the 99% Funk team at the DigiPen Institute of Technology and launched this month on Steam. In it, you’ll fight corporate demons in bizarre arena combat while destroying witches’ skateboards and smashing robots with enormous magic hammers and spray paint.
Witch Molly’s biggest trick is that she can land big smashes very quickly, as she deals more damage with more speed. As you can imagine, grinding subway tracks or blowing up ramps can send enemies flying with a fun high-speed hammer attack. The developer explains: Skate through cities and subways, gaining speed, creating order and devastating robots of all shapes and sizes. Skate faster, hit harder, and use spells to stun and stagger your enemies!
It’s similar to seeing Tony Hawk through the eyes of Jet Set, his radio, and his supporters, who is unquestionably more vicious. To its credit, there are a few lovely comic-inspired graphics that employ creative shading techniques. Additionally, it is jam-packed with funk beats for jibes and skating. Witchpunk is available on Steam for no cost. Check out this scary game with Goya-inspired art if you enjoy educational games. Here are some tips on becoming a cute witch, a terrifying witch, and all the games we know about the upcoming Witchbrook if you’re here for witchcraft.
