Live Activities were supported by iOS 16.1 when it was released in September by third-party apps. On the Lock Screen or Live Island, the feature allows iPhone users to keep track of current events, such as a sporting event or a food delivery order.
On your iPhone lock screen, Live Activities are essentially real-time notifications that show you information at a glance. Live Island on iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max also displays live activities. On Dynamic Island, you can long press a live activity to get more details. These five iPhone apps, which enable live activities like sports scores, parking, flights, and more, are especially helpful.
The FotMob application allows you to follow live the results of the FIFA World Cup games, which take place in Qatar, for a month. Open the FotMob app, select the running game and tap the star in the top right corner to complete the action. On the lock screen, this will show a real-time scoreboard and moving islands.
The Sports Alerts app can be used to track live scores for many other sporting events including the World Cup, NFL, MLB, NBA, NHL, NCAA Football, Basketball and more. Open the Sports Alert app, select the game that is running, click on the three dots in the top right corner and choose Start Live Activity. It will turn your lock screen and dynamic islands into a play-by-play live action scoreboard.
You can track public transport on your lock screen and live islands using Citymapper app. This includes the next departure, how many stations are left, arrival time, exact walking path to a station or stop, etc.

We published a list of 20+ apps that support live activities last month. While none of the apps for Uber, Starbucks or Nike Run Club have been updated to support this feature, Apple has also previewed live activity support for these services.
