Modern iOS versions have made a lot of changes to the way things look, including the Dock. Even though it no longer looks like OS X, you can still change the colors and transparency of the Dock a bit. One option is to change the wallpaper, which has a big impact on how the Dock and other parts of the iOS user interface look. But what if you like your wallpaper but don’t like how it makes the Dock look?
This trick will help with that. It does this indirectly by using the contrast setting, which is meant to make things easier to use. It gets rid of the sometimes garish, hyper-color look of the iOS Dock that comes from using certain wallpapers. Instead, it gives the Dock a simple color with much higher contrast, usually a dark color that is similar to the wallpaper.
This makes it much easier to read, and sometimes it also makes the Dock look better as a whole. Note that this setting will cause some other changes to the user interface, which may make it unattractive to some users.
How to Change Dock color on iPhone/iPad
- Open the Settings app and tap Accessibility.
- Tap Display & Text Size.
- Toggle on Reduce Transparency.
Now go to your Home screen and check out the Dock. It will appear more solid in color. This color will automatically match your wallpaper. You will also notice a reduction in transparency everywhere on your iPhone.
For example, folders widgets, Control Center, search bar, etc., will have a solid background rather than a transparent one. If you want to go back to the default transparent look, just follow the steps mentioned above and toggle off Reduce Transparency.
